From the Bride… Our wedding was magical The happiest day of our lives took place on October 20th, 2013. That day was more special than we could have ever imagined! Wedding planning began shortly after our Christmas 2012 engagement. Our wedding took place at Barr Mansion in Austin, Texas. When we initially visited Barr Mansion, we knew it had the perfect fit and feel for us. Not only was the venue historic with exceptional gardens, it is the country’s first USDA certified organic venue. Being at Barr Mansion feels so unique- like you have been transformed to a secret, lush garden that you sort of stumble upon on Sprinkle Road. It was so exciting to share this experience at Barr Mansion with our closest family and friends.

We planned our own wedding and truly enjoyed the whole experience. Wanting to keep our wedding as personal and meaningful as possible, we gave close attention to the little details. Our wedding truly reflects our style and personalities. The ceremony was held under a huge pecan tree next to the Mansion. We wrote our own vows!! The perfect sunset glow welcomed guests as they arrived. A seven foot framed chalkboard severed as our program with all of the wedding party and family information hand painted. The wedding party was intimate with a house party, matron of honor, best man, flower girl and to include two of our dogs as the best dog and ring bearer. They both had a matching floral wreath collar. And oh my gosh the dress! Sparkling champagne sweet heart top corset dress! The color of the dress was so perfect with the grey tones worn by the groom.

Ceremony music performed by string quartet included Blackbird by the Beatles, Heavenly Day by Patti Griffin, and Hallelujah by Lenord Cohen played when we walked down the aisle as a married couple. The aisles were marked with floral filled blue mason jars hanging by twisted twine on shepherds hooks. The vintage, antique feel of the mansion was carried out in some of the decor. Lace runners and blue mason jars were placed on the welcome table as well as the cake table. The cake was a scrumptious buttercream lemon curd adorned with beautiful floral. The toppers represented our home states of North Carolina for the bride and Texas for the groom.

Nearby, photos of framed loved ones sat on a table lit with mercury glass votives. The centerpieces on the tables were stunning. They had a combination of the different elements including agate and floral all encased in a stone-bottom terrarium. The terrariums were lit by the surrounding mercury glass votives. The dinner served was completely organic and sustainably sourced- some of the vegetables and herbs were from gardens on the property. Even the beer, groom’s favorite, was locally sourced – Live Oak’s Hefiweizen!

Many hilarious memories were made in the photobooth where guests could leave video messages and pose with props! After dancing the night away with a fantastic DJ, the evening ended with a wish lantern send off. What better way to end the happiest day of your life than by making a wish and sending it to the night sky? A long kiss and a vintage limo swept us away from the perfect wedding.

I could relive this day everyday- it was that perfect. It is incredibly uplifting to be surrounded by so much love and happiness in one day. We are eternally grateful for the love from family and friends and will cherish every minute we shared together on our wedding day.
