Classic is just the tip of the iceberg with this beauty sent to us by Erich McVey. It’s really so much more than the perfect white tent, the nautical touches crafted by Strawberry Milk Events, and the stunning tables lined in lace and florals by The Flower Studio. So much more. It’s a love fest and proof that the team of vendors behind this affair know full well how to craft a wildly beautiful event.
From Julie of Strawberry Milk Events… We wanted Liz and Mike’s waterfront wedding for 150 guests in the quaint town of St. Michael’s MD to appear effortlessly elegant. The lovely Inn at Perry Cabin hosted their family and friends over the weekend, where they also got ready the morning of the wedding. They were married in a little stone church straight out of a storybook, followed by a cocktail reception under the lighthouse at Chesapeake Maritime Museum. Cocktail hour highlights included an oyster bar, cheese and charcuterie displays, and a refreshing Cucumber Mint Gin Fizz signature cocktail. An upscale, farm to table, southern supper with a slight 1940’s vibe ensued under a beautiful Sperry tent on the point after cocktails.
At the wedding reception, we mixed organic linens and natural textures with mirrored surfaces and gold accents to achieve a layered look that blended the best of organic and traditional. Gold chiavarri chairs donned sheer lace chair covers at Restoration Hardware wooden tables, tied together with a hemstitch white linen runner. At other tables, wooden farm chairs accented organic white textured linens, all with glamorous accents of gold and the softest blush.
The centerpieces were romantic and lush, but with an organic “just picked from the garden” feel. The couple’s bespoke gold monogram was incorporated into every detail – from the invitations, to the programs, menus, escort cards, coasters, napkins, beverage sticks and even the dance floor. The napkins at place settings were tied off with nautical rope, and placecards were attached to mini pearl nautilus shells as a nod to the surroundings. On the dinner menu: red and yellow watermelon, feta and mint salad followed by a choice between steak frites and local rockfish. The vintage-style big band set the perfect mood – which the couple danced to under the sparkling 6 foot empire crystal chandelier, which had gold leaf detailing mimicking the custom dance floor monogram.
The couple made sure to incorporate the groom’s two daughters with special additions to the ceremony program and a special family dance at the reception. Since sparklers were not allowed on property, at the end of the night, guests waved ribbon wands while the couple made their grand exit into their vintage, wooden getaway boat.
