From the Bride… It was a perfect and enchanting summer’s night. Warm candlelight, lots of laughs, beautiful souls, good friends and family, and last but not least, my other puzzle piece who has always been the summer of my life.

Every time I visited the terrace at the top of Gramercy Park Hotel, I always imagined that my wedding would be held here, full of green trees and with the city’s backdrop where we fell in love and shared our adventures. When we got engaged and started to plan our wedding, I couldn’t think of any venues other than the terrace. I am very sensitive to the atmosphere of a particular setting or location… many of my fondest memories are intimately linked with the feeling around a place or surrounding. The terrace was just like a little gem with the perfect feeling for me. The space is very intimate yet open through the wide retractable glass roof. It is rustic with votive candles and bamboo chairs, yet modern and edgy with a major contemporary art collection including works by Damien Hirst, George Condo, and even young hip artists such as Dan Colen.

I wanted my wedding theme to be soft, dreamy and romantic. Our color theme was made up of soft pastel hues like light french blue, warm white, soft greens, with touches of blushed pink and peach. I pictured a garden in the summertime. Our flowers were natural looking, loose arrangements of Dahlia, Ranuculus, Mazolica, small Zinnia, Camomile, as well as different kinds of wild flowers and greeneries. We also had small vases with single-typed flowers including garden Roses and my favorite, Baby’s Breath.

Another important theme I wanted in my wedding preparation was happiness and good people. Our vendors weren’t big name companies. They were all very, very talented and we were able to work with them very closely. We are so thankful to our amazing photographers, Chung and Annie, our talented make-up artist, Eunjung, the cheerful Occasion 9 florist team in Chelsea, the delightful pastry chef Judy of Silk Cakes in the Lower East Side, and our chic DJ.

Whenever I reminisce about our wedding… it is just like a happy dream in a summer’s night.
