Rustic Chic Ranch Wedding at Santa Margarita Ranch

I love this couples’ wedding so much I want to squeeze them. With the help of Touch Of Style Events they crafted an affair that was 100% them, and 100% fabulous. The oh-so-talented Ken Kienow was behind the camera snapping up every stylish detail, which leaves us with a gallery that is just ridiculously good. See it all here.

Colors

From the Bride…Erik and I wanted our wedding to feel more like a laid back party than a glitzy and glamorous black tie affair. People thought we were crazy when we said we decided on a whole palette of colors and not just two, and that our wedding party was dressing however they wanted. We didn’t care because in our heads we had a clear vision of what we wanted- A day that represents both of us equally and is 100% our style and personalities. Since we both love to travel we used a collection of vintage license plates, with each state representing a different table. We used a vintage 1956 map of California as our guest book, and our favors were toy cars. My mom and sister spent long hours making all the western photo props and card displays. Erik and I wanted to support the local Paso Robles and San Luis Obispo small businesses by inviting them to be a part of our special day.

We wanted to bring a genuine “California” vibe to our wedding so we decided on a taco bar and organic cupcakes. We were a little nervous because it wasn’t “traditional” wedding food, but at the end of the day we received so many compliments on our food choices. Everything about the day went perfectly and we’re both so glad that we did what WE wanted to do and didn’t listen to the naysayers. Our day completely embodied US and who we are as a couple. It couldn’t have gone any better. My favorite moment of the day was walking down the aisle to Johnny Cash and seeing Erik for the first time. It was overwhelming the happiest moment of my life. My advice to engaged couples planning a wedding would be to enjoy the planning process and don’t stress about small details that won’t make or break your day…Your guest’s aren’t going to care that you have ivory napkins instead of blue. There’s nothing wrong with having a cookie-cutter wedding, but remember your guests are there to celebrate the love you have for each other, so make sure to incorporate unique elements that represent you as a couple . Most of all, HAVE FUN on your big day! Everyone told me how fast the day goes by and honestly they were so right. Take a moment to yourselves, away from your guests just to take everything in and remember a wedding is a party not a performance.
