Romantic Ojai Wedding
Northern California is a place where romantic weddings go to flourish. And when that romantic wedding is planned by none other than the bride herself (the talented Cassidy of Cassidy Rae Events), it's a type of romance that gives your soul an extra kick of happiness. Think charcoal gray hues mix and mingling with a breathtaking al fresco setting. See it all captured by Alyssa Armstrong in the full gallery.
And a sweet film from Elle Wildhagen? Yes, please.
From the Bride... Nick and I met in our sophomore year of high school, and have since been inseparable. After eight years together, Nick proposed on Christmas Eve of 2012 in front of both of our families. He surprised me with a custom ring designed that featured my great grandmother’s 1920’s diamond as the center stone. Without hesitation I said "YES," and started planning immediately- as any planner would! As a wedding coordinator and designer, I have to say that planning my own wedding was a completely different experience than I had anticipated. I opted not to have another planner involved, as I can be extremely particular with details. With the help of an amazing group of vendors our big day turned out flawless.
Growing up we both frequently visited Northern California and spent an extensive amount of time surrounded by natural elements. Our love of nature was something that we wanted to incorporate into our wedding, which led us to our favorite part of the wedding; the incredible Bodee’s venue. We had visited nine possible locations by the time we found this breathtaking venue. As soon as we toured the location we knew it was the perfect fit for us. It had everything we were looking for including incredible views, defined spaces, an abundance of nature, a running stream, a unique rustic feel; I could go on and on!
The color palette for our wedding included mixes of charcoal gray, taupe, ivory, sage, with hints of dusty rose. We chose this palette to create a style of romantic elegance accompanying Bodee’s lush natural landscape. The charcoal gray table linens added a very rich feel to the reception, which was softened with amazing floral details by These Buds A Blooming including an olive branch at each place setting. To further personalize our wedding we added many special touches with dozens of Etsy purchases and a long list of DIY projects. These special little touches included a custom bridal hanger, cake topper, handmade signage, and a gorgeous hand painted mandala painted by one of our dearest friends made for a truly unforgettable setting.
The most memorable moment for me was during the ceremony when Nick prematurely said “I do!” after the officiant had only gotten out a couple of words. It felt great to know that someone was just as excited to share their lives with me as I was with them. All the work of planning was well worth that one special moment that I will treasure forever.
Our wedding was everything we could have hoped for. We were given the chance to celebrate our love with our families and closest friends. We would not change a thing about our wedding day; just wish we could relive it! Thank goodness we had both an amazing photographer and cinematographer who captured our special day for us to go back and enjoy at any moment.
