From Brian Dorsey Studios…Alex and Katie met six years ago through mutual friends while both were living in NYC. They quickly began seriously dating and fell in love. Alex proposed on a beach in Mexico and Katie began the wedding planning right away. While Alex grew up in New York, Katie came from Florida but once falling in love in the city, she knew she wanted a classic New York City wedding. From the moment she walked into the Metropolitan Club, Katie knew this was the place. The gold gilded ceilings, rich red hues, and the grandeur of the dining rooms set the tone for the entire event. They wanted the architecture to glow with candle light, and the space filled with soft white flowers that would compliment the architecture of the building.
The ceremony was held at Columbia University’s St. Paul’s Chapel, a University that is very important to Alex’s family. Because Katie is Catholic and Alex is Jewish, a joint ceremony was held in the church, combining both religious traditions. The Chuppa was designed with trees and hanging white flowers, and the same glow of candle light that would fill the Metropolitan Club later in the evening.
