Organic Winter Wedding in La Jolla

There’s a winter wedding on the East Coast (think piles of snow and wintery whites) and then there’s a California winter affair full of blue skies and beautiful rich color. Whatever your preference, this wedding is undeniably good, good, good. Crafted by Brooke Keegan along with florals by Flowers Annette Gomez and imagery by Michael Radford, this is a day that transcends all seasons. Get inspired right here in the full gallery.

From the Bride… Brogan and I met during high school through a mutual friend in April 2004. We were both going on a trip down to Mexico during spring break to build houses. Little did we know that would be the starting point to a lasting relationship. After that week we didn’t have any contact with each other for a couple years. We both went off to college on athletic scholarships, Brogan at University of Colorado, Boulder and I at Cal State Long Beach. But to my surprise one night at a teammate’s house we ran into each other after Brogan had transferred back to Long Beach. It was as if we didn’t even skip a beat. We became quick friends again running in the same circles throughout college. It wasn’t until September 2008 that we realized what was right in front of us, something we had been downplaying for years. We ran into each other at the first party of the new school year and it’s the only time in both our lives that time went into slow motion and we have been together ever since.

Brogan and I both envisioned a venue that was quaint, charming, and rustic with an old Californian feel. After talking with our amazing wedding planner, Brooke Keegan, she suggested we check out the Estancia La Jolla Hotel and Spa. Once stepping foot onto the property, I knew this is where I wanted to get married. After being shown around there was not doubt in my mind, this was it. The property gives a very warm welcoming vibe, the grounds are beautiful, and the customer service is top notch. We wanted a venue that could host the whole event: rehearsal dinner, ceremony and reception, where no one would have to leave making it a weekend destination wedding. The Estancia offered everything we wanted and more.

We wanted our wedding to feel like an extension of us as individuals and as a couple. Our wedding can be described as rustic garden chic with lots of textures and a pop of color, an event that brings out our fun personalities but elegant taste. With the recommendations from our planner, Brooke we were put in touch with some amazing vendors. All of our vendors: Michael Radford Photography, Vive Entertainment, Israel Maldonado Music, Cloudless Weddings Videography, Flowers by Annette Gomez, and Jen Simpson Design were so easy to work with. From our first meetings with each of them, we were able to see a connection form between them and us, making it very easy to work together. We could see little bit of us in each of our vendors. But last but not least we have to give credit where credit is due and our wedding was unbelievable executed thanks to the amazing Brooke Keegan. From the moment we stepped into her office thanks to a friend’s recommendation (DeGroot Family) I knew I wanted to work with her. She understood my vision and was able to bring it to life that far surpassed my wildest expectations. She was there throughout our wedding journey as a soundboard, visionary, and now friend and we couldn’t of done it without her!
