Colorful Indian Wedding at Tribeca Rooftop

The level of prettiness in this wedding is insane.  I mean, the vibrant hues alone are enough to spend days obsessing over, but add in the talents of Cynthia Pesce EventsJuan Villanueva Designs and Brian Dorsey Studios + a whole host of heartwarming moments and, wow.  I didn’t know weddings could be this good. From the Bride… Sam and I met the way a lot of people from our generation meet, online on E-Harmony! We matched on the site, and I reached out to him first, though he always says “You just got to e-mailing me first. I had my eye on you and was going to e-mail you but you beat me to it!” Our first date was really magical (as cheesy as it sounds); we just met for a drink at The Archive right after work, but we hit it off right from the start and felt a comfort and ease and intrigue with each other that we had never felt before. One drink turned into dinner and then dancing. Sam even met my best friend on our first date, and got the approval right away!

On our one year anniversary, Sam proposed. We spent the day at the American Museum of Natural History, which had a really fun Butterfly exhibit where you were in a room with all these live stunning butterflies and they would sit all around and on you. Then we went for a stroll through Central Park and ate a delicious eight course meal at Picholine. Sam wanted to propose that night, but after a heavy meal with wine pairings, I fell asleep on the cab ride home. So the next morning, as we were getting ready to go explore Storm King for the day, he asked me to grab something on the bed that he forgot, and there was the ring box! I was so excited and shocked, and full of butterflies! It was a perfect weekend!

Both of us come from big Indian families, and we wanted to have a lot of the fun Indian traditions that mean a lot to our parents and us, but also we wanted a more chill, modern vibe to our wedding as well. So, we went with a kind of Indian meets NYC urban rustic type of feel. We cared most about the music, good food and drinks, and wanted our guests on the dance floor with us for the majority of the wedding! And that’s what happened luckily, a fun big dance party with awesome music (thanks to Bigg Romeo). We had so much fun and spent the majority of the night on the dance floor with each other and our family and friends, and were so happy all night long! One of my favorite moments was when Sam (who plays bass in a metal band) and two of his band-mates joined the wedding band – lots of head banging and awesomeness all around (he is so talented that hubby of mine!).
