Vintage Inspired San Francisco Wedding
It's a well-known fact that San Francisco weddings are always awesome. But give me a San Fran affair as laid-back and casually cool as this sweet shindig and I am in absolute heaven. Because this isn't just a pretty set of nuptials, it's two cuties saying "I do" followed by one seriously amazing party. It doesn't get much better than that. See it all captured by Paco and Betty right here.
From the Bride... Our wedding was held on Saturday July 21, 2012. I was the Event Manager at Axis Cafe and Gallery (now Aracely Restaurant) at the time in San Francisco, so I was planning my own wedding along with several others. Our guests were flying in from Texas, Hawaii and Japan and we knew that we wanted a casual, non-traditional, laid back and fun wedding that was still classy and that is exactly what we had. We stated on our invitations that there were no ties allowed and the groom wore jeans. We held our ceremony on the patio of Axis Cafe and Gallery and had an unexpected warm July day. We also had our good friends play music for our guests.
Our ceremony was officiated by our Pastor, Dave Lomas, and although it was 140 guests he didn't want to use a microphone which made it feel very intimate. I knew I would cry at our ceremony and my husband knew, too and carried tissues in his jacket for me. We didn't want a wedding party so we had my sister as maid of honor and his brother as best man. We held our reception just a few blocks away at a beautiful indoor winery with swooping lamps, Bluxome Street Winery, in the SoMa neighborhood of San Francisco.
My husband is a graphic designer and he designed the save the dates, programs and invitations and helped with most of the decor. All of our vendors were friends and helped out in many ways. After seeing and planning so many weddings we knew that we wanted good food, good wine and good music. We served our guests barbecue from Axis Cafe (brisket, sausage, creamed spinach, macaroni and cheese, mashed potatoes, corn on the cob and corn muffins because I am originally from Texas), mexican cokes, and had local wine and beer (anchor steam and 21st amendment). For desserts we choose a variety of small desserts from one of our favorite bakeries Pretty Please Bake Shop. We served mini coconut cream pies, twinks, brownies, cookies, pecan pie, pumpkin pie and a small chocolate cake.
Our wedding favors were Sightglass coffee which is my favorite San Francisco coffee. Our guest sign in "book" was a Muni doll from Kid Robot which my husband collects. We also had one at each table as part of the centerpieces and included vintage books because I love to read. All of our decor was DIY and many things were purchased at antique shops and the Alameda Antique Fair. For our seating chart we had small tags with a note to each guest on the back because I love cards and notes. Our photographers were Paco and Betty who were actually my roommates for a couple of years and we LOVE their work. Our dj was a good friend who is a club dj (Madrone) and played all of our favorite tracks from the 80's and 90's. We included a soul train line during our reception and danced the night away.
