What we have here, my loves, is a lesson on how to use bright colors beautifully. This beachy wedding from Craig Paulson Photography is what I would imagine pure happiness and love bottled up in one day would look like, and the smiles? Well, they’re here for the rest of the day!
From the stunning bride… We wanted our wedding to be colorful, casual and fun. The day was perfect and the setting even better – a beautiful beach club on the Long Island Sound. I grew up playing in the sand here so it was a very nostalgic location for me. We both love the beach and were able to incorporate a nautical element into all aspects of the wedding – from the invitations, to the gift bags, to Kevin’s tie clip. The relaxed and low key vibe carried through to the ceremony – we read our own vows and had a friend do a reading from a children’s book. One of the highlights of the reception was our signature drink. A bar owner friend came through in a huge way and sent over cases of homemade artisanal pickle juice for Picklebacks (Kevin’s favorite – Jameson shots followed by shots of pickle juice). Sounds weird, but they were a hit!
My uncle surprised us toward the end of the night with a Japanese paper lantern, which Kevin and I lit together while everyone crowded around to watch it float away over the Sound.
Kevin and I had been dating for almost 10 years when we got married. We met in college and have been best friends ever since. Kevin proposed a year and a half ago at Blue Hill at Stone Barns, on a Fall hike at one of our favorite spots. Our August wedding was originally scheduled for June, and had to be pushed back due to damage to the Club from Hurricane Sandy. Shenorock looks better than ever and it was all worth it – the most perfect day I can imagine.
