Modern Rooftop Wedding in Downtown Los Angeles

Listing all of the reasons this wedding is awesome would probably take me around a decade, so I’ll just say this: this is the coolest day you’ll ever see.  A crazy chic combo of modern design from Lady Liberty Events, a breathtaking setting and beautiful images from John and Colette Photography & Beauty, it’s the sort of contemporary soiree that is hall of fame worthy.  And that dress?!? Sigh.  See it all here.

From Lady Liberty Events… Lisa & Mike…. This is a couple who have such a fun eclectic style, love to laugh, and have a love that is absolutely contagious. All of which was evident on their very special day. When Lisa had told us that they selected the rooftop at Perch in Downtown Los Angeles as the location to tie the know, we knew that it was going to be a super cool and chic gathering and couldn’t wait to start playing!

Having a 360 degree cityscape backdrop, we knew this would add an incredible dimension to the wedding and needed to create an equally stunning setting. With a color palate of black, white and blush to match the brides dress and the grooms tux, we went with a chic modern vibe that perfectly highlighted the personalities of Lisa and Mike. With a black lace handled bouquet made of black and white anemones, how can you go wrong?!

Guests entered the Pershing Building and were directed to the Perch rooftop which was set with black Chiavari chairs accented with white cushions and hanging white hydrangea pomanders. A Ceremony backdrop of box wood hedges highlighted with an L + M made with pink and white florals was flanked by tall modern white vessels with lush hydrangea and blush garden rose pomanders. Peeking over the top of the hedge was “Bunner.” The groom has a funky assortment of smoking bunny collectables of all different shapes and sizes. This quirky collection has started a cute inside joke between Lisa & Mike, where they always call each other “Bunny, Bun, Bunners, and Bunner-Snapper-Stein.” All of their friends and family are aware of his rare collection and Lisa wanted to be sure to include this somewhere in the wedding design. With Bunner peeking over the corner, witnessing the ceremony and festivities, we all agreed this was the perfect home for him.

After the ceremony guests were invited down to the 13th floor bar for cocktails and hors d’oeuvres. This room was set with a sexy speakeasy deco setting that was easy to play with because of the dark purple velvet tufted walls. Light Steel Blue sofas set with Gold coffee tables were accented with petite pomander arrangements. We had silhouettes done of the both Lisa & Mike, which were used on the escort cards. An oversized frame accented with black lace showcased the silhouette escort cards. A guest book table was set with black and white rocks for guests to write notes on for the Bride and Groom, creating a great coffee table centerpiece for them to look back on their special day. While guests enjoyed sipping on specialty cocktails titled the “Brown Cow” (The bride and grooms last names combined) and “The Bunny-Tini” the rooftop was being transformed into the reception area.

As guests made their way back to the rooftop for dinner and dancing, they were pleasantly surprised to see how the area was transformed. Black sparkle linens topped with silver beaded chargers and blush napkins, were glistening as the sun was setting. The ceremony backdrop had been changed over to the cake display which acted as the centerpiece during dinner and looked simply stunning. A 4 tier blush cake with black polka dot piping and the most perfect anemone sugar flowers was topped with a fondant replica of their silhouette and was surrounded by floating candles. Guests enjoyed a tasty family style dinner and then danced the night away with the flickering lights of the high-rises all around them. A silhouette artist provided hand cut silhouettes of guests providing a fun keepsake for everyone.

The evening was simply magical and it was obvious that love filled the air.
