Organic + Elegant Twin Peaks Ranch Wedding
This. This is the reason I've been obsessed with California since my first day on the job. Weddings like this beautiful Ojai affair that ooze with that California relaxed air, yet have a sense of beautiful elegance. It can't be matched. Also, the talent that state holds - Birds of a Feather, The Little Branch, LBPS Lighting, the list goes on and on, but I won't keep you from this stunning soiree!
From the beautiful bride... Our wedding was truly everything we hoped it would be and more. When we started the process of planning our wedding, we knew we wanted something that felt entirely “us”…it would feel organic and natural, beautiful in a simple and elegant way…and yet still have a sophisticated and refined touch. I really wanted an outdoor wedding, and pictured beautiful tables with lots of laughter and great food, simple yet beautiful string lights, and a warm night to bring it all together.
We looked at a lot of venues, and when we stumbled upon Twin Peaks in Ojai – a sweet little town that always felt special to me – we knew this was it. It offered gorgeous natural scenery – nothing too manicured, and yet not entirely wild either. It was stately and yet very relaxed, California at the same time.
We did the majority of the legwork ourselves, which was a ton of work but allowed us to feel like the day really had our stamp all over it. We selected vendors who seemed to share our sensibility and I was truly impressed with all of them – Jen Lauren Grant, our photographer, was amazing…and such a sweet, fun person to boot. Our food, by the lovely ladies at Whoa Nelly!, was absolutely delicious…it all felt very fresh, natural and farm-to-table, which is our favorite kind of food and such an important part of the day (to us). We heard from tons of guests that it was the best wedding food they’d ever had! The flowers were stunning and done by the girls at Little Branch – my mom and I met with them a few times, and I have to say they just knocked it out of the park. I am a huge flower girl, so it was super important to me that we had specific types of flowers (all of which they delivered on, even though some were out of season), and the color palette was just spot on with the venue and the overall atmosphere we were trying to create – light, playful, nothing too serious…and yet with a punch and wow factor. Our DJ, Wes Lee of RedShoe LA, was just the best – he helped us curate a list of music we loved, all from different points in our lives and meant to resonate with certain guests…and I have to say, the dance floor was packed the entire night. All of our guests told us how much fun they had, which is due in large part to the music and the tone Wes set.
Our family and friends were a huge part of the heart of our wedding. We were so touched by the tributes our parents and siblings gave, and our wedding felt like such a perfect balance of fun and exhilaration, yet grounded in such tenderness and love by those around us. I hate to sound cliché, but our wedding was the best night of our lives and such a lovely send-off into married life together. We are so thankful for everyone who had a hand in our day, and couldn’t have imagined anything more perfect for us.
