From the Bride… Since neither of us are from NY, yet we both consider it our home, there was no question that we would plan our June wedding in this great city. Our guest list included friends from all over the world; Georgia, the UK, California, Honk Kong, Kenya and even as far as Singapore, so we wanted to host a New York inspired evening – modern, chic, and sophisticated.
We chose black and white as our colors to keep with the black tie dress code. The groomsmen were dressed in matching Hugo Boss tuxedos and ties, while the bridesmaids each selected her own floor length black gown. Our interfaith ceremony included traditions from Judaism and Christianity, but Mark’s favorite part was the breaking of the glass. I completed a family tradition as we said our “I do’s” under our family Chuppa, under which my three siblings were all previously married.
The tables were adorned with varying white flower arrangements, playing with textures, dimensions and heights, beautifully executed and perfectly matching my vision. Each guest was assigned a neighborhood of Manhattan for their table and the area was highlighted on a chic map of Manhattan. Unquestionably, the most talked about aspect of our wedding were the “Who’s Who” booklets found at the place settings. Each guest was listed with details about their relationship to us, as well as an interesting fact. This was the perfect ice breaker for our tables of mixed friends.
Being the foodies we are, this was a huge focus for the night and our guests certainly left full! After midnight snacks of mini Ruben sliders, pigs in a blanket, and lobster mac, we ended the night sweetly with a candy bar, each of the candy’s representing something specific to Mark and me. Our delicious cake was topped with personalized Princess Peach and Toad figurines (an inside joke), dressed in a wedding gown and tuxedo.
Despite the unusually hot 95 degree weather in June, the day went off perfectly thanks to all of our vendors and having our closest friends and family with us to celebrate.
