Modern Marie Antoinette Wedding Inspiration

Truth be told, I’m a sucker for rich, romantic hues and ultra-luxe styling. And when it’s in the context of a modern day Marie Antoinette shoot? You better believe I’ll be swooning from beginning to end. Held at Brooklyn’s 501 Union and captured by Katie Osgood, the gorgeous full gallery is the best place to get the pinning party started.

Inspired by the rich hues and decadent scenes of Sofia Coppola’s 2006 film Marie Antoinette, we decided to produce our own modern day version of the Queen celebrating with her ladies in waiting. The luxe finishes housed at 501 Union in Brooklyn, New York proved to be the perfect Versailles backdrop for our December 11th winter shoot. Gabriella Bridal in Manhattan provided beautiful gowns for the shoot.

Sugared fruit, purchased from Chelsea Market, Nova Perfume and lots of trinkets from our Brooklyn homes made for a luxe stylized setting. Since we love to craft at Starling on Bond we decided to make sparkless sparklers on set by using tinsel, chop sticks and floral wire, which proved to be a festive yet easy to assemble prop. With the modeling assistance of a few close friends, the day of dress up ended with laughter and champagne toasts.
