This is what we call a bohemian approach to glamour and it’s met its match in the mountains of Aspen. With elements like a long lace dress from the Queen of boho herself, Rachel Zoe, an impossibly gorgeous outdoor setting and a Bride with a flower in her hair – this is perfection as seen through the lens of Sarah Joelle Photography and you can catch even more right here.
Beth & Jesse’s wedding was simply elegant with a little bohemian flair. They both love the outdoors and head to the mountains every chance they get so a destination wedding in Snowmass seamed like a perfect fit!
From the Bride…The biggest priority for our wedding was for our guests to enjoy themselves, since most of them were coming from out of state. We wanted to show them the beautiful Colorado scenery without having to drive very far from the wedding venue. The Viceroy in Snowmass worked out perfect for this. All of our guests stayed at the hotel and both the wedding and reception were held there as well. The location provided opportunities to be active outdoors or to site see in nearby Aspen.
Jesse and I had decided from the beginning that we wanted something other than the typical church wedding with tuxedos and a 3 tier cake (especially because we don’t like cake or tuxedos :)). We wanted something more unique and personalized without spending a fortune. Our goal was to make it as easy as possible for our wedding party. The bridesmaids picked their own dresses in a blush shade and our groomsmen wore their own grey pants and white shirts. I got my Rachel Zoe dress new with tags for a steal on Ebay and had it reconstructed to add an open back. I wanted something simple and elegant with a little bit of sexy. It was so comfortable! Many of the brides I had seen over the years had similar dresses: strapless, aline, taffeta. I’m glad mine was different. A real flower hairpiece was something I dreamed of but could not purchase anywhere, so I looked up how to make one on Pinterest and did just that! It really added a bohemian vibe to my lace dress.
Jesse and I saved a lot of money by purchasing all of our vases and picture frames at a thrift store and also by doing a lot of DIY, such as the invites, programs, escort cards and photo booth. I think the most cost efficient choice we made however was ordering our flowers at Whole Foods. We paid about a fourth of the price and the flowers were absolutely gorgeous! I bought gold ribbon for the bouquets and designed all of the table arrangements myself. Another DIY was our welcome bags for our guests. I ordered a bulk supply of plain tote bags and hand painted each one with a simple mountain scene. We filled the bags with goodies from Colorado such as local beer and Chocolove bars.
We were fortunate to have great weather and the sun came out just as we were reading our hand written vows. It was my favorite moment of the whole day. Jesse and I were surrounded by our closest friends and family and everyone had a great time. It was a dream come true!
