We love a new twist on tradition; a style that brings a fresh layer to a tried and true classic like the Beach wedding. With concept and beauty by Katie Nash Beauty, styling by Enjoy Events Co., crazy good florals by Max Gill and the loveliest photographs by Sylvie Gil, this inspiration is out to prove that a seaside affair can also be glamorous. From Sylvie Gil… The concept of this shoot originated from a simple, but gorgeous iPhone photo from Sylvie Gil of a California beach at sunset. The golden light rested beautifully in sandy pockets creating depth and soft shadows along the shoreline. Sylvie sent the picture to hair stylist and makeup artist, Katie Nash, who immediately responded with an enthusiastic text: “we have to do an inspiration photo shoot!”.
Most beach weddings are thought of as casual, bare feet, summer dress kind of events, but we wanted to add touches of elegance and refinement that the gorgeous setting deserves while paying homage to the awe-inspiring textures and natural elements it provides.
When it comes to natural and organic elegance, Max Gill is the without question the florist to invite. His stunning, free-flowing pieces are always a feast for the eye and his floral ceremony arch plush created the perfect romantic backdrop for our couple. The ever talented Katie Nash, envisioned soft, glowing skin and natural makeup with an unstructured hairstyle to mimic the twisted textures found in seaweed and kelp. She scavenged natural materials from the beach (dried seaweed and coral) to create two gorgeous headpieces for our bride, each painted with touches of pale gold. The endlessly creative team at Enjoy Events Co. conceptualized the gorgeous table top, incorporating their love for blue hues and natural texture. Leather place cards showcased the flawless calligraphy of Little Miss Press while Casa de Perrin’s new collection of Heath Ceramics ‘Mist’ plates and eclectic tableware anchored the breathtaking display. Scattered natural gems and rock salt holders (cleverly formed from shells collected on the beach) provided contrast atop the fine linen and layered tulle from La Tavola linen while the rustic legs of our One True Vintage table nestled sweetly into the sand.
Photographer Sylvie Gil’s love affair with natural light was the glue that cemented this beautiful collaboration. Her creative and intuitive approach resulted in photos that, well, they speak for themselves. She perfectly captured the soft sunset light reflecting from the water, the waves breaking on the rocks, and of course, that stunner of a dress from Novella Bridal. We love how the mother of pearl accents call to mind seashells while the intricate train emulates the foam of the sea.
We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day or a more cohesive collaboration. This talented team was simply a joy to work with. With our feet in the sand and the crashing waves creating our soundtrack, the day came together just as we envisioned, simple and refined. We hope you enjoy the images as much as we enjoyed creating them.
