Inspired by vintage botanical prints, this Marvimon wedding beautifully designed by Carissa of JL Designs & Events is just ridiculous in the best possible way. I literally want to crawl into these gorgeous images from onelove Photography and never leave. Ever. It’s uber stylish and overflowing with love, making this gallery my favorite part of this Friday. From Carissa of JL Designs…We were so inspired by vintage botanical prints for this wedding…loved using various types of ferns, begonia leaves, hellebore, anemones, parrot tulips and ranunculus for the centerpieces…and the pops of amber orchids and amaranths were just the magic ingredients to add warmth to everything… The place settings were one of my favorite details…gold rimmed china, ivory hemstitch napkins and a baby fern sprig…set with a bundle of hammered copper flatware tied using velvet ribbon and a stained wood placecard…stunning calligraphy and botanical illustrations from Tessa Shane! Tablescapes with olive green suede runners (custom made by the mother of the bride), brass candlesticks, mid century stoneware and amber glass apothecary bottles… One of my favorite bouquets this year – tons of maidenhair fern, bay leaf, pieris, double hellebore, anemones, veronica and astilbe…finished in caramel velvet Instead of individual menus at each place setting, the groom stained a large 3’x7′ plywood board and we had Tessa Shane hand paint the courses and botanic illustrations onto it…a delicate garland of passion vine finished the look… Gorgeous desserts by Sweet and Saucy Shop and emerald sequin linens from La Tavola…oh and you guys – can we talk about the pumpkin spice naked cake with cream cheese frosting and salted caramel drizzle?!
From the Bride…Clayton and I wanted to share the day with those who were most important in our lives, so we tried to keep it small and intimate. To make this possible, we topped off our guest list at 65, choosing to invite those who have an impact on our daily lives. We are so lucky to have spent such an important day with the people that are the most special to us! When we were searching for venues, we looked for a place that felt like it could be home; we wanted our wedding to have the feel of a dinner party. Rather than sitting at a sweetheart table, we enjoyed our meal (served family style) amongst our friends our friends and family. The menu we chose was something you would expect to find on our dinner table at home, full of seasonal, fresh ingredients and pescatarian!
When describing our vision to Carissa (JL Designs), we explained how we wanted to incorporate elements of the season (fall), an eclectic feel (modern, antique, and not too feminine), and to blend the outdoor space with the indoor space. It is a good thing that Carissa is so talented because this description wouldn’t have made sense to anyone else! In the end, Carissa gave us exactly what we wanted, but what we didn’t know how to describe — a botanical garden (indoors and out) with ferns, brass candlesticks, mid century stoneware, amber glass apothecary bottles, and green suede table runners (made by Angela’s mom). It was perfect! We loved it!
Make sure your wedding is indicative of you, the bride and groom! You are going to get a lot (way too much) of input from your family, friends, etc., but if you stay true to what you both want, your wedding day will be one to remember! Be flexible! Not everything will go as planned on the day of the wedding. You may trip down the aisle, the wrong songs may get played, your mom may take two shots of tequila before walking you down the aisle, your friend may compare you to a cactus in their speech — but in the end, your wedding is what you make of it! So, even if things go wrong, you will still cherish these memories because they will be what makes your wedding unique and special to you!
Our first look was perfect! onelove found a beautiful location about half a mile away from the venue that both fit our style (outdoor, hillside) and provided a very special moment for us, one neither Clayton nor I will ever forget. What’s more, both onelove and Floataway Studios did an amazing job of capturing this memorable moment. We knew that we wanted our officiant to be a person that understood us and our relationship, so we chose was one of our best friends! Emily and Clayton wrote the ceremony together. They took elements of traditional wedding ceremonies and incorporated those elements into a ceremony that was uniquely ours and captured the essence of the love we share. Choosing Emily as our officiant was one of our best decisions.
