Kuitpo Forest Wedding
Oh, Kuitpo Forest. I soooo want to get to know you. Because every time you make an appearance on SMP, you're like the prettiest thing I've ever seen. Add in a colorful wedding with one of the world's most adorable duos (they are), plus one beautiful bloom after another from Bronte Woyziechowski and, well... call me all caps HAPPY. See it all captured by Jessica Yaeger Photography in the full gallery.
From the Bride... Chris and I were at the same TAFE together, I was studying to be a photographer and Chris a Graphic Designer. But we really didn't meet properly until a few chance meetings, one of those moments was when I sold Chris what is now our dining table, and what we also used to sign our wedding certificate on.
On Saturday 16th November, Chris and I were married in front of an old stringy bark tree amongst the pines on a private property in Kuitpo Forest. We choose this site as it was a beautiful and peaceful place we both discovered together and wanted to share it with our family and friends. Pastel mint green, pink, lemon and apricot coloured bows lined the pine trees to lead our guests to the magnificent tree we were soon to be married under. Dividing the bentwood chairs arranged in front of the tree were two rows of pin cones to create the aisle I would walk down. The bridal party along with my parents arrived in a classic red Mustang and Ford Galaxy convertibles which drove us through the forest to the ceremony site between the rows of pine trees.
Our ceremony was short and sweet, with a bit of laughter to lighten the mood. After the ceremony, guests were taken to the reception held at the charming Coriole Winery in McLaren Vale.
Chris and I really wanted to use local people and friends to help us with our wedding. I had my beautiful Art Deco-inspired dress made by my close friend and fashion designer Sarah Kinghorn, who also made my four bridesmaid pastel dresses. My flower bloom earrings were made by local jeweller Nadja Maher at Gray Street Workshop, and our wedding bands were made by another local jeweller Kate Sutherland at JamFactory. The groom and groomsmen wore matching outfits with different vintage knitted ties from the era of the 50's to the 70's.
I chose succulent floral bouquets and had small arrangements in vintage inspired glass jars which I had placed on tables and the top of the fire place at Coriole. To keep the guests entertained we had bocce in the gardens, and a Photo Booth with mini blackboards for the guests to write their messages to us.
We both wanted a low key, casual and fun wedding so we decided on a cocktail reception so our guests were encouraged to mingle and dance the night away. As the night got cooler, we had the fire place roaring while we all got our boogie on the dance floor.
The wedding was captured by local photographer Jessica Yaeger, and a good friend and artist Sam Howie played DJ, mixing songs on vinyls from all eras.
At the end of the night all the guests lit sparklers and lined the garden at Coriole as we were driven off in our 1971 Morris Mini K. Our mini had been out of action for six years (breaking down on one of our first dates) and was especially restored for our wedding day.
