Hummingbird Nest Ranch Wedding
To say I am speechless over this stunning Hummingbird Nest Ranch affair would be a serious understatement, because this wedding? It's left me completely at a loss for words. From the talented team of vendors (think Laura Hooper, TEAM Hair and Makeup + Delicate Details) to the breathtaking setting to the gorgeous images from Mi Belle Photography, it's awe-inspiring, to say the least. See it all here.
And a sweet film from Today's the Day to wrap up the day...
From the Bride... My husband and I really wanted our wedding to be a reflection of us as a couple, as well as both of our backgrounds. After getting engaged, we knew we wanted to have an outdoor wedding. Hummingbird Nest Ranch gave us that perfect backdrop, located just outside Los Angeles, but unique and authentic enough to make you feel like you were transported to Europe.
I am Persian and my husband is Jewish American. We both knew that we wanted to incorporate certain customs from both our upbringings, but to do so in a non-traditional and innovative way. To preserve the aspects of each culture, we decided to have two ceremonies.
Our first ceremony, a Persian "aghd" included the traditional "sofreh" table, but with an unconventional twist. The sofreh was truly a family collaboration, with help from my parents, aunt and uncle, cousin, sister and brother-in-law. Almost all of the symbolic items on the sofreh were handcrafted by these family members, much like they would have been for a traditional sofreh, but with a slightly modern aesthetic. The ceremony was officiated by my mom's cousin, who made it personal and lighthearted.
Our second ceremony was under a traditional Jewish chuppah. This ceremony was also a family affair, as my husband's uncle officiated it (after getting ordained online) with warmth, humor, and grace. My father-in-law also read the Jewish blessings. We were so thrilled to have both ceremonies organized, designed, and officiated by the people we love and care so much about.
Besides incorporating touches from our own backgrounds, we also used the Spanish feel of the venue to incorporate Spanish touches into the entire wedding, including the escort tiles, a Spanish guitarist during the cocktail hour, and references to lace in our invitation, as well as my wedding dress.
We were so lucky to have vendors that went above and beyond what we could have dreamed of. Our caterer was the definition of amazing service and the staff took every measure to ensure that our guests were taken care of. Our catering manager even tracked me and my husband down immediately after the ceremonies to bring us cocktails and a platter of delicious snacks. Our DJ was able to appease our very eclectic group of guests throughout the night. Our florist was even able to give me a gorgeous peony bouquet--no easy task during a hot California July. Delicate Details kept everyone on track seamlessly the entire day. And Mi Belle Photography--what can I say about them except that I know that if I'm ever having a bad day, I can just look at their images and get transported back to the unforgettable day. But beyond this combination of dedicated and talented vendors, just sharing the joy, excitement, and love with our beaming family and friends was enough to make it the best day of our lives!
