When a wedding planner gets to plan her big day, we always make sure to stop and take note. Because we just know that big things are going to unfold – and that’s just what happened for this beauty of a Bride (who also happens to be the talent behind Lovely Day Events) when she said I do to her dapper hubby. Their day was filled with color, fun and love – making all the images from Katy Gray so wonderful you can’t help but smile. See even more here.
From the Bride…I have the best job in the world, I am a wedding planner. This job is as fun and and rewarding as you are imagining right now, and so much more. For the past few years my job was a bit awkward, because I had been with Eric for almost ten years and people were always asking “You are a wedding planner, so when are you getting married?” Well, finally it was the right time for us to get married and we started planning. Picking the location was the easy part, it would be at Chico Hot Springs in Pray MT (about 45 minutes from Bozeman, MT). Even though we live in Jackson Hole, WY and love it dearly, I did not want to feel like I was at work. Plus, we have been vacationing at Chico Hot Springs for the past few years and are absolutely in love with it. It had everything we wanted in a location and more: lodging on site, mountains, activities such as horseback riding and rafting, greenhouses to serve meals from, a late curfew for the reception, a saloon for the after party, the list goes on. Sigh… this place is simply magical.
We wanted our wedding to be a vacation and memorable wedding weekend for our guests. We did not have wedding colors, instead we chose a theme: festive, fun and celebration. The next step was to spend my free time over the winter on Etsy. Festive was brought out in the pops of color. Banners were custom made on Etsy, bold table runners ordered from Etsy and (after a DIY project gone horribly wrong) I found limited edition reproductions of the adorable vintage blue Ball mason jars at a local store. The festive banner theme was carried through the paper suite, cake topper and custom At Last banner for the ceremony. Fun could be found in personal touches. For example, instead of table numbers, each table was named after a place in our life together complete with photos from that location, such as college, Europe and Jackson Hole. My personal favorite fun touch was the mismatched white bridesmaids dresses and bright shoes each gal wore. My dress had to be made for fun. My criteria for the dress was able to dance in it, able to sit in it and able to have fun in it. I found this lovely Sue Wong beaded dress in a boutique in California and am hoping I get invited to a Great Gatsby party so I can wear it again. Nothing says celebration like cigars, Eric is the manager of the local cigar store so many touches included getting creative with cigar boxes for decor and cigars during the cocktail hour. Other celebration details such as “I’m Yours” and “You’re Mine” cake toppers, “I do” and “Me Too” forks with matching cake server were found on Etsy.
When I look back on my wedding day I think of all the fun, the celebration and a very festive day. From the Etsy finds, to farm to table food, to the pops of color it was a wedding filled with ten years of our style and well work waiting for.
