Modern Toronto Wedding

This is what happens when a modern wedding mixes and mingles with fabulous vintage details and a crazy cool "long distance love story" theme: pure, unadulterated pretty.  The kind of pretty that is awash in vibrant purple blooms, crafty DIY details and one of the coolest cakes you'll ever see from Bobbette and Belle.  Click here for every gorgeous moment captured by Renaissance Studios.  It's awesome.

From Renaissance Studios... Our modern downtown wedding was inspired by our long-distance courtship. Airmail-style stationery, vintage luggage, old books, postcards and a personalized love-story cake brought our theme to life. We scoured Etsy for authentic valises, visited a postcard show, and rummaged through boxes at a book sale to find these pieces that perfectly complemented our vision.

My hairpiece, belt, earrings, and shoes added a vintage feel to my modern Judd Waddell gown. The groom's modern charcoal grey suit and grey/purple striped tie coordinated with my belt and our flowers.

Since a majority of our guests were traveling from out of town, we wanted to showcase the best Toronto had to offer. That's why we chose Canoe Restaurant as our venue - 5-star dining with unparalleled views of the city. With floor to ceiling windows and rustic yet elegant decor, Canoe needed very little to transform into the venue of our dreams. Mercury-glass votives provided soft, romantic light and coordinating bud vases with icy green and deep purple flowers added a pop of color to the white-linen tables.

The ceremony was short and sweet and featured a string duo. Parents were escorted down the aisle to "Unforgettable" by Nat King Cole, while I walked down the aisle to Elvis Presley's "Can't Help Falling in Love". We exited the ceremony to "Lucky" by Jason Mraz and Colbie Caillat.

The groom and I teamed up for several DIY projects including printing our own escort cards (mini postcards each with a personal note tucked into kraft paper airmail envelopes), table numbers (designed by a friend), ceremony board, and favors. My creativity and his pursuit of perfection resulted in an amazing final product.
