When it comes to invitations, I’ve got a serious soft spot. Throw in letterpress? And I’m done. So is the case for this stunningly timeless beauty from Kimberly FitzSimons. Her invitation design seamlessly set the stage for this classic, elegant soiree and I can only help but be in awe. Keep reading to hear the inspiration behind the invitation!
From Kimberly FitzSimons… I designed this invitation suite for the bride, Jessica, who was planning a classic and elegant wedding reception at The Drake Hotel in Chicago. She was a very memorable client for me because I not only got to sit down with her, but her parents as well! They each contributed input to what became a stunning wedding invitation suite. Jessica had a very neutral color palette; white was a focal color along with subtle hues, including a creamy light taupe. As you can see from Jessica’s wedding photographs, her fresh and neutral colors paired perfectly with her polished style. Based on Jessica’s preferences for neutrals and classic elegance, we designed this timeless invitation that was letterpress printed in a light Cobblestone ink on soft white cotton paper.
Jessica gave her guests a preview of her beautiful wedding day through paper. Her save-the-dates (also printed in Cobblestone Ink) featured a meaningful Frank Sinatra quote: “The Best is Yet to Come, Come The Day You’re Mine.” This was followed by an oversized 7″ square letterpress invitation that was adhered to a square pocket folder that had a hint of glimmer. Within the pocket folder, we custom designed two enclosures to inform guests of the reception location and accommodations information. The pocket folder was sealed with a custom monogram square with the couple’s initials.
Jessica and I worked closely to develop this wedding invitation suite to match her aesthetic and colors. We started with a timeless invitation design and then I custom designed all of the pieces for the rest of the suite. The combinations of sizes, ink colors, and pocket folder elements are extensive, so Jessica spent time feeling the paper, sorting through pocket folder colors and ultimately making selections that reflected her vision. Jessica chose letterpress printing for the invitation, which is my specialty. I just loved how the whole package came together! Charming, elegant, delicate and fresh.
