This Maine wedding from David Murray Weddings is the new authority on relaxed barn weddings. It’s pretty much written the book on the topic. The bride was behind so much of the decor and you really can feel her love coming through every detail, which is the recipe for my favorite kind of wedding.
From the beautiful bride… The bones of the barn were so classic and lovely; it was the perfect backdrop and I knew that the right lighting and colors would make the space glow and feel cozy. It was a blank canvas—my challenge to “dress” the barn up and fit all our guests in there comfortably, but I knew that it could be done and it would be beautiful.
I wanted the vibe of the wedding to be elegant and romantic, soft and pretty. I also wanted to make sure we honored the rustic location, while incorporating touches of the Maine coast in our food selections and decor. But most of all I wanted the guests to be relaxed and to have a blast (the long banquet seating down the center of the barn helped with accomplishing the “family” feel i wanted), and tons of dancing and celebrating all night long!
Because I was very under the weather on our wedding day, I really wanted to see Steve prior to the ceremony, but I was determined to hold off as we had planned. My favorite moment was when I finally got to see him at the end of the aisle. Just seeing his smile and standing beside him, I instantly felt relief and comfort, and knew that I was marrying someone who would take care of me forever.
