Filled to the brim with some of the most gorgeous jewel-toned hues I’ve ever seen, this Barr Mansion beauty designed to perfection by Mayhar Design makes me want to jump out of my chair and do a happy dance. It’s pin-worthy prettiness captured by Christine Sargologos Photography from start to finish , and you can get to pinning right here.
From the Bride…Brent and I met in business school at Cornell University in the fall of 2009. Despite having roots on opposite coasts–Brent from Southern California, and me being from Connecticut–we embarked on our new journey as graduates and a couple in Texas. Brent proposed to me on 12.20.2012. It was a special day that Brent planned, filled with Austin fun to mark off the beginning of our holiday “stay”cation. At the end of the evening, Brent insisted on walking through Auditorium Shores park, our favorite spot to take our dog, on our way home. With the skyline in the background, Brent proposed to me in the park and I excitedly accepted.
Since we had made Austin our new home together, it only seemed natural to get married here. With our families far away and two demanding work schedules, I knew we couldn’t undertake wedding planning on our own. After meeting Melanie and Ashleigh from Mayhar, I knew that we had met the perfect planners. Their impeccable taste, knowledge of local vendors, and creative ideas were exactly what we needed.
We gave the Mayhar team some color ideas and the broad description of having an “elegant, but relaxed” evening. Mayhar incorporated all of our ever evolving ideas and made them a reality. Despite the tropical storm, which dumped lots of rain on Austin, the day was above and beyond our expectations. Every detail represented “us,” from the flowers, to the chalkboards, to the table settings. The day was truly the best day of our lives, and we have the team at Mayhar, our floral designers, the Nouveau Romantics, and our photographer Christine Sargologos to thank. It was even better than the wedding we of our dreams…we just wish we could live it all over again.
From Mayhar Design:
From the moment we met them, Elisa and Brent were a complete and total joy to work with. They are the type of couple and client you dream about as they are loving, energetic, respectful and so much fun to collaborate with. As we walked together through the planning process all the way from design concept and vendor selection up until the wedding day, we truly enjoyed every moment and are so thankful to have been a part of their lives.
Early on, Elisa knew that she wanted a rich and colorful Spanish inspired color palette. Upon visiting the charming Barr Mansion and falling in love, we worked to tweak our Spanish design towards an eclectic Southern wedding with deep and lush jeweled, berry tones. I cannot say enough about the exquisite and breathtaking work of The Nouveau Romantics, and we were thrilled to have Liz and her lovely team on board. The sweet and wonderfully gifted Roxanne Spradlin created our fabulous menu and seating chart chalkboard artpieces. And, the incredibly talented Christine Sargologos beautifully and lovingly captured the day as it unfolded.
As it turned out, September 20th was a day filled with torrential rains, muddy paths and umbrella strewn porches and entryways, as we ran back and forth between buildings for photos, set-up and finally, showtime. What should have been stressful and discouraging, was one of the most beautiful days I have ever been a part of. The love and excitement that flowed from family and friends was tangible and the pure joy that came from Elisa and Brent as they looked forward to committing the rest of their lives to each other was incredible. We are so thrilled to have been a part of this wedding and to know such a beautiful couple! We love you both and wish you the world of happiness!
