From Barb Raymond of French Kiss Events… When I was first approached by Adrian Michael to collaborate together on an engagement inspiration shoot, I was beyond excited!! So, you can only imagine how much more excited I became, when we decided that my own fiancé and I would do the modeling!! It was seriously a wedding planners dream come true!! Strolling through the trails, on my way to the beach, where my groom to be awaits…perfection.

Looking to highlight the beauty of the west coast winter, and those romantic moments that can happen no matter what the season, we took our shoot to the beach. Our palette of grey, dusty rose and champagne came from the dusty and unbleached browns and grays of the driftwood, and the million shades of pewter and grey found in the sand and rocks. All these elements have such an ethereal feeling about them, and it is that feeling that we wanted to capture throughout the shoot.

The wispy Frou Frou chic ribbon that is hand died and dried in the warm sun of southern France, and rolled on to custom wooden spools, paired with the chiffon draped gown, came to life in the ocean’s subtle breeze. The floral crown and bouquet were created to be as wild and flowing as the ocean, and the subtle addition of the pheasant feathers gave the flowers a wild, yet sophisticated and luxurious touch.

The bouquet was a mass of ferns and foliage, along with a few blooms of pure white hellebore, or commonly known as “winter rose”, as it is the only flower that blooms in the winter. Cashmere and merino wool blankets protected us from the cold, and helped to create those quiet and romantic moments we were after. And the piece de resistance was the luxurious paper used for the winter inspired Save the Date, and that perfectly set the tone for this cold, and wintery engagement shoot.
