When modern meets vintage in downtown Philadelphia, this is what happens. A drop-dead gorgeous day planned to perfection by Proud To Plan with amazing decor from Maggpie Vintage and one insanely beautiful moment after another captured by Alison Conklin. It’s basically a dream come true in every way possible (believe you me) and you can soak in every lovely moment right here.
And a little something special from Tree Of Life? Yes, please.

From the Bride… Sal and I had a long-term romance, meeting in college and growing together as we began our professional lives in separate cities. Distance did not deter our seven and a half year romance. After a special surprise engagement in none other than Disney World (my favorite), a summer 2013 wedding came to fruition.
While our taste is similar, we tend to vary on overall design elements (myself being drawn to more of a whimsical/vintage inspired décor and Sal slightly more contemporary). We knew we wanted to blend our styles together for this special day. We set out looking for a soft romantic setting for the ceremony. Our dream was realized as soon as we saw the beautiful hidden gem in the Morris House Hotel’s garden setting. Who knew such a beautiful setting was present in the middle of Philadelphia’s busy historic district? Morris House Hotel’s serene surrounding with flourishing greenery makes anyone feel like they are miles away. The beauty was only enhanced at this venue by the ever-so-talented Maggie Farrell of Maggpie Vintage, with an amazing display of vintage décor to create a delightful ambiance for guests as soon as they arrived. The stunning floral creations of Sullivan Owen and her team were captivating and added such beauty to the garden-esque environment. Guests were treated to the lovely vocals and music provided by Sharon Sable and the E. Shawn Qaissaunee Ensemble. A dual religious ceremony was enjoyed by all and Sal and I left under a flourish of glitter and confetti thrown by our guests. We are still finding glitter in shoes and suit jackets today.
After a brief set back from a venue cancellation nearly two months before the wedding, we stumbled upon the industrial chic warehouse setting of Front & Palmer. Fortunately, they had availability and a wonderful team that came to our rescue to help us put the pieces back together (perhaps better than ever). Front & Palmer’s beautiful features of high ceilings, unique light fixtures, white washed warm brick walls and original hardwood floors add so much character but, allow a couple to transition the space into whatever atmosphere they wish to create. The team at Proud to Plan helped lead the overall planning process and make our special day run as smooth as possible, they were such a joy to work with! The venue was transformed into a romantic setting to pull in the soft garden feel from earlier in the day. Once again, the talents of Maggpie and Sullivan Owen, along with lighting from Synergetic Sounds, and fun stationery from Loveleigh Invitations helped set the tone. We were lucky enough to get to work with the genuine and wonderfully talented Alison Conklin to capture our day with her unique eye, as well as Tree of Life’s videography to capture so many memorable moments.
Ultimately, our planning process was a bit… unconventional. However, Sal and I look back upon this experience with the most magnificent memories. We feel incredibly fortunate to not only have had our closest family and friends by our side to share in this great memory but are also truly honored to have worked with the vendor team we did. Without them, this would not have been possible. They absolutely made our dream a reality and we will remain forever grateful!
