Rooftop weddings are always some of my favorites, and when you add in a bundle of gorgeous vintage-inspired details, plus some crazy cool silver studded heels, well… there really are no words. Steff and Steve’s wedding was a unique, vintage-inspired, whimsical affair. It began with preparations at The Carlton Hotel on Madison Ave, where Steve donned a Scottish kilt bearing his clan tartan, and Steff dressed in an flowing tulle Alita Graham gown. The wedding parties then enjoyed a photo session around the hotel, in the streets of NYC’s flatiron district, and in lovely Madison Square Park, where the summer sun was filtering playfully through green leaves.
The wedding ceremony was held in the early evening on the rooftop terrace of Midtown Loft and Terrace on 5th Ave. Musical selections performed by the bride and groom’s friends punctuated the ceremony and the vows were sealed with a traditional Celtic handfasting. During the cocktail hour the bride and groom stole away for a photo session in the park and the groom made a quick outfit change from his kilt to a suit.
The reception was held in the venue’s chic loft, which was decorated with the bride’s handmade details. Steff created the stationary for the wedding, and made the paper flowers, photo displays and signs that decorated the space. The decor was completed with glass bottles, vintage props, and hundreds of candles. Delicious food was passed throughout the night during a cocktail-style reception, while the amazing DJ kept the party rocking for hours. A highlight of the evening was a surprise flashmob musical performance by the bride (and many guests) to surprise her new husband!
