When we got wind of garden chic wedding inspiration dreamt up by Twah Dougherty of Style-Art-Life and Two B Events, we knew this wouldn’t be your run-of-the-mill styled shoot. No siree! With breathtaking blooms from Fleuri de Di, gorg invitations from Gourmet Invitations and so much more pretty, it’s a full-on swoon fest of all things sweet, sparkly and east-meets-west coast fabulous!
From Two B Events… When Twah approached me with the idea of a styled shoot, I took one look at her inspiration board and knew that our kindred spirits would have so much fun bringing it to life. The fact that we were bi-coastal actually helped influence the direction of the project: blending a glamorous, gilded era feel with a laid-back, vintage bohemian twist. East coast vision met with West coast interpretation.
We imagined a couple who would want a unique, antique and intimate wedding without having to sacrifice the elegance or sophistication of a more formal affair. The Maxwell House provided the perfect venue, seeped in its own history (built in 1929) but also with a stunning greenery laden courtyard to keep the vibe relaxed instead of stuffy. The gold-rimmed dishes and fluted glassware helped balance the custom vintage Singer dining table, and though the attire was dressy, the bright pops of color in the floral and the bride’s shoes, along with the sparkly medley of the bridesmaids’ dresses proved you could have an outdoor garden wedding that was chic.
We concentrated on a few main dishes that were fresh, locally sourced and purposefully plated, and chose to keep the desserts simple, incorporating bright peony toppers to build in a natural beauty. Overall, it felt like a close group of friends rejoicing over a new marriage, celebrating intentionally, yet still taking place in a refined, polished and genuinely fun way.
