But yet it wasn't, it was very much real and very much planned by Jon, Melissa's thoughtful fiance. During an annual trip to St. John's last year, Jon planned the ultimate surprise proposal for Melissa. Waking up early one morning Jon and Melissa sneaked away for a snorkel trip to a secluded island only to find that they had to swim to the beach. It was there after a lovely stroll through the sand that Jon got down on one knee and asked Melissa to marry him. A trip to the Virgin Islands, a surprise sailing excursion, a swim to a private island and one BEAUTIFUL engagement ring all make for an amazing and unforgettable proposal!!

Jon and Melissa capped their magical engagement on a beautiful summer day in Newport at the gorgeous Regatta Place where they wed overlooking Newport Harbor. Friends and family from across the country and around the world flew in for the destination affair for which Melissa thoughtfully organized and styled to reflect their love for all things preppy and nautical. The bright coral color scheme and sea inspired accents helped to tie in the all the details beautifully and create the perfect backdrop for Jon and Melissa's day.
