I’m in awe of this one. Somehow it managed to combine so many of my favorite wedding elements: beautiful blooms, stunning gowns, waterside party, family homes, tents AND barns. All in one day, beautifully captured by Adam Barnes Fine Art Photography. I shouldn’t be surprised that it is what it is though, with Simply Chic Events behind the day!
From the beautiful bride… We have a true love for the Eastern Shore of Maryland. It is our escape from the busy city life here in Washington DC. We could not think of anywhere else we would want to be married. My Husband is Greek and it was a must that we get married in an Orthodox Church. Annapolis Church is unbelievably gorgeous and welcoming. It was also large enough to accommodate our 300 guests. As for the Reception location, we were so excited when Gus’ parents agreed to have the reception on their beautiful property (White Banks Estate) over looking the water.
The weather could not have been more perfect. Having a reception outdoors with no back up it was a huge gamble. We had a clear blue sky and slight breeze and the guest enjoyed a gorgeous Sunset during the Cocktail hour.
Two days before our wedding a massive Hurricane like weather system hit the Eastern Shore which delayed our set up time for the tents and decor. When I left on the property on Friday only one tent was up of three. The main tent was just going up. So much had to happen to transform the Tent into our Barn like structure. We Hired a great team and it all came together as we imagined.
We had all of our parents, Grandparents, and great grandparents Cake toppers from their weddings incorporated in our dessert tablescape. My great grandmothers cake topper dates back to 1920 and is still in great condition! My husbands ‘YiaYia” (grandmother in Greek) made her famous greek cookies and pastries for our dessert bar. It was a beautiful display of yummy treats and family tradition. Throughout the year I asked family members to give the their empty wine bottles I collected and used these for our table numbers.
My father in laws 1959 Chevy Antique truck was a prop we used for our save the dates and used it again as a popcorn display for the guest “Midnight Snack Favor” Guest loved the truck many took pictures with it. We also constructed the inside of the tent to look at like barn by wrapping the poles with old wood to recreate a barn like feel used barrels with flower as accents.
The day went by so fast. But my favorite was our sparkler exit to the car. Gus and I got in the car and looked at each other and said.. “I cant believe we pulled this off.” As we drove away we looked back and admired the work we had done. Gus was very involved with the planning process. We did it together which was import to me.
