Vintage North Vancouver Wedding
The vision behind this day was simple - a relaxed, fun, romantic "I do" with dinner and dancing underneath the stars. And with Spread Love Events working hard behind the scenes, the day turned into that plus soooo much more. Sweet Heirloom Photography caught every perfectly planned detail, and it's all waiting right over here.
From Spread Love Events... One of my favourite things about our work, and a privilege I will never tire of, is the opportunity we enjoy to get to know our clients and share in creating one of the most memorable days of their lives. Danielle and Sam share the kind of love we all hope for, the family and friends that surrounded them on their wedding day were simply amazing and if needed I would have swam across the inlet for them - I wanted their day to be perfect and in the end, it exceeded even our expectations. It was spectacular!
With many guests traveling all the way from Australia and around the world, Danielle and Sam wanted to provide their friends and family with a true West Coast experience. Guests boarded boats in Coal Habour and enjoyed a cruise up Indian Arm to arrive at a private residence in the Woodlands of Deep Cove in North Vancouver, a place Sam spent his summers growing up and which held great significance to both Danielle and Sam. The event details were designed to enhance the beautiful natural environment and property. Natural greenery and soft florals in cement vases dressed up linen covered long tables under a clear tent strung with globe lights in the evening. Guests enjoyed a pre-ceremony cocktail reception while listening to the sweet sounds of Dave Ward Music, followed by a ceremony and West Coast inspired dinner by the sea. The bride and groom had their first dance under the stars, following which I don't think Danielle left the dance floor for a moment! The evening ended with a sweet sparkler send-off for the bride and groom, and guests sailed home.
From the Bride... Our wedding and reception took place at a private home on the Indian Arm in North Vancouver, Canada. The Indian Arm is a fjord at the base of Mount Seymour (a ski mountain) that pours into Vancouver Harbour. The home is situated within a provincial park, with the water on one side and lush green forest on the other. The location is very special to us as Sam has spent every summer there since he was born, and we have spent every summer there together since we met.
Sam and I met at law school in Sydney, Australia where we now both work as lawyers. One day Sam overhead me talking to a classmate about applying for an exchange at the University of British Columbia in Vancouver, where Sam did his undergraduate degree. Sam joined the conversation and soon after asked me out to dinner. We’ve been dating ever since! Little did we know that before we met we had each had been admiring the other from afar during classes!
Our vision for our wedding and reception was a relaxed, fun, romantic and joyful event for the more than 100 guests who attended, including over 30 from Australia and others from the UK, US and all over Canada. We wanted an outdoor ceremony, followed by drinks, dinner and dancing all under the stars, so that guests could take in the breathtaking natural beauty of the area.
The wedding day was, quite literally, the best day of our lives. We both had high expectations, and it exceeded all of them. Throughout the day we kept looking at one another and saying “this cannot get any better!” It is impossible to list all of our favourite moments, but a few include: watching all the guests arrive by boat from Vancouver Harbour; Sam’s sister and her partner playing guitar and singing “our song” for the ceremony procession, singing a special song written just for us over dinner and then joining with Danielle and other friends and family later in the evening to play our first dance; meaningful and entertaining speeches from family and friends; seeing all of our Canadian, Aussie, British and American family and friends (most of whom had never met before) partying together on the outdoor dance floor; and many guests jumping off the dock to cool down at the end of the end of the night (father of the bride and groom leading the charge!)
