I don’t know the couple, but this Hammersky Vineyards wedding has me in tears. The blooms from Flowers by Denise were stunning, the color palette was perfect, but the thing that really got me was the intimacy and love between the newlyweds, so beautifully captured by Jaime & Chase Photography.
Their first look was lovely and took place under a massive 100 year old oak tree named “Uncle Dan.” Miranda and Seth looked so beautiful with the fiery orange vineyard rows behind them! Everything about their wedding day seemed to glow.
The groom’s father officiated the ceremony and once the I do’s were said all the guests enjoyed a beautiful and colorful table of appetizers and Hammersky Vineyards wine. The reception continued with a beautiful candlelit dinner and dancing before the couple waved goodbye to their guests.
The most amazing part about their wedding is the care and consideration they put into their details! Seth is a writer and Miranda is a graphic designer, so they used books, paper and graphic elements wherever possible. The day’s color pallette, which Miranda titled “sparkling neutrals”- gold, silver, blush, ivory, grey was inspired by her personal collection of books by F. Scott Fitzgerald. She even had the books shipped from from Minnesota to California to use as centerpieces!
Miranda spent months looking for mercury glass online and in antique shops, and rented all of the vintage silver pieces from the Dana-Powers House. Many of the other pieces that helped make up the dining table decor included items special to the bride, like her grandmother’s silver candlesticks, and her mother’s lace tablecloths. While the multitude of paper flowers that covered the dining table, dessert table, chairs and cake were made by her bridesmaids, Dawn and Lindsay. Miranda’s maid-of-honor, Sarah, contributed to the day’s details by hand beading the bride’s wedding dress sash and the ladies’ hair pieces. She also sewed the paper garlands that hung from the trees surrounding the cocktail hour/reception area.
A few of the other amazing details included the crystal chandelier that hung right above where the couple stood during the ceremony and the printed floral handkerchiefs that read “Will you be my Bridesmaid?” and “Will you be my Maid-of-Honor?” that Miranda gifted to her wonderful friends.
From the beautiful bride… Everyone was up early to set up the barn for dinner and dancing. Seth made breakfast while we put the final touches on our ceremony, and then I sequestered myself upstairs to get ready and keep calm.
Jess did my hair and makeup in the dining room overlooking the vineyard, while my bridesmaids and mom were in and out, simultaneously getting ready and setting up outside. At about 2:30 my mom helped me into my dress and everything became very real, very quickly! At that point all the nervousness was gone, and I was just giggly and excited, waiting to see my groom. My dad saw me for the first time in my wedding gown and had tears in his eyes when he said: “I’m not giving you away!” A few minutes later I watched from the upstairs window with my bridesmaids, squealing like schoolgirls, as Seth and Chase walked up to the tree (Uncle Dan) for our first look.
The rest of the day was amazing – full of laughter and hugs and kisses. We absolutely enjoyed every single minute of it. We wrote our entire ceremony, officiated by Seth’s father, and we couldn’t have asked for a better way to say our vows to each other.
And the weather! It was absolutely perfect – warm and sunny all day, and cool and clear in the evening. It was the kind of weather that Minnesotans only dream of.
After the ceremony, Seth and I walked into the barn for the first time, and were completely blown away by how gorgeous it was. I couldn’t believe this was our wedding. The flowers were more than I could ever have imagined, and all of the handmade details worked perfectly together. It was relaxed, and beautiful and romantic. We shared a delicious meal of local favorites with our guests, and sipped wine for the rest of the evening, telling stories and thanking everyone for putting so much love into our wedding day.
At the end of the night, Seth and I danced to “Coney Island Baby” by Tom Waits, and sent our guests off with cake and hugs. After everyone left, Seth and I went back down to the barn to enjoy the quiet and last flickers of candlelight.
