Al Fresco Austin Wedding

I’m one of those wedding lovers who tends to judge the day by the dress. And this Austin soiree? Total ace thanks to one absurdly stunning Marchesa. But even more stunning than the gown is the bride who’s in it. Along with Posey Floral & Event DesignThe Nichols and so many others, she pulled off the day of her dreams in all-out style. And as always, the gallery awaits with soooo much more.

From the Bride… We moved to Austin from New York City in 2012. We knew after getting engaged that it was where we wanted to get married. It was the perfect mid point for friends and family coming from California and the East Coast. When we stumbled across Laguna Gloria we knew it was our spot. The nine acre estate is an oasis in the middle of Austin. Being from California I felt right at home. It’s the perfect mix of Napa’s elegance and sophistication with a combination of Palm Spring’s glamour and fun nestled on the edge of Lake Austin. We had admired the husband and wife dream team duo, Jennifer and CJ Nichols and their editorial photography style. They were the perfect fit to document our day so we can relive the happiness and joy we felt over and over again!

The evening was magical. It was the perfect cross of Old Hollywood charm while being understated, chic and a truly romantic affair. Think long dinner table, festoon lights, white dinner jackets, bow ties, glowing candles, layers of romantic blooms and cabbage roses in blush, greens, mints and ivories.

I’ve always loved the infamous picture of Carolyn Bessette and John F. Kennedy Jr. from the 90’s on their wedding day. Almost twenty years later and it’s still one of the most stylish and iconic weddings. That gown! Still classic and timeless. When I found my dress I knew it had the same classic, understated elegance. The dress made me feel like Carolyn Bessette back in 1996 with a touch of couture glamour. The embellishments are spectacular and made such a statement while the silhouette is simple and classic.

The ceremony was friendly, intimate and personal. We were lucky enough to have our friend who introduced us in New York City officiate the wedding. He’s known us both from the beginning when we met in 2008 at a Killer’s concert at Madison Square Garden. He was able to paint the perfect picture of our relationship and how it unfolded from the start. When I looked up at friends and family he had everyone in tears. One of our friends is an amazing and talented song writer and singer in New York City. She sang her own rendition of “Be My Baby” by the Ronette’s, “Read My Mind” by the Killer’s and “Can’t Help Falling In Love” by Elvis Presley to make the perfect medley. We’ve watched the video over and over again and we still get chills every time we watch and listen.

After cocktail hour on the terrace and dinner under the festoon lights and candlelit tables came dancing. The west and east coasters hit the dance floor and danced the night away. For the last song the band brought us up on stage, handed us a mic and started playing “Don’t Stop Believin'” by Journey. All of our guests were going wild! Belting out the words and fist pumping to the end. The party didn’t stop there. We made our way to the after party and continued the celebration.

Our wedding was a truly magical three day event. The best of our lives! We would do it all over again any day!
