From Anna Wu Photography… It was our incredible honor to document both photo and video for Mairin and Nikhil’s beautiful Indian wedding extravaganza in Newport, Rhode Island. Because Mairin’s family is Catholic while Nikhil’s is Hindu, they celebrated both with two different ceremonies. It was a packed weekend starting with a Sangeet on Saturday and the church ceremony, Baraat, Hindu ceremony, reception, and everything in between on Sunday. But throughout the wedding day, there was just one thing that stood out above everything else– the way these two look at each other. It’s timeless and enduring, with such adoration and abandon as if nothing else in the world exists.
The Catholic ceremony was in Mairin’s home church in Cranston, Rhode Island, while the Hindu ceremony was at Belle Mer in Newport. The mandap was adorned with colorful flowers and gorgeous silks that billowed gracefully in the wind. Traditional Indian music played softly in the background, evoking another time and place. From the moment Mairin walked down the aisle in her new Indian sari, the entire wedding was enchanted. The guests were held spellbound, and every gesture was imbued with tradition and new meaning. It was truly breathtaking.
