1920s New Year’s Eve Inspiration

We’re bidding adieu to 2013 with a little bit of glitter, some fabulous vintage stylings and some crazy awesome pops of bright pink.  In other words, we’re rockin’ this last day like it truly deserves… with a pretty, pretty party from a dream team of Calgary vendors (think Monica Watson – Reflections Weddings And EventsFairytale DesignsFlowers by Janie, and Great Events) and some bubbly-filled festivities.  See it all captured by Photographik in the full gallery.  Happy 2014, lovelies!

From Photographik… Glitz, glitter and glamour were the inspiration for this New Year’s Eve inspired shoot at an urban loft studio in Calgary, AB. Many Albertan couples choose to tie the knot in the summer months when the weather is warmest, but there’s something romantic about a winter holiday themed wedding – because in Canada there is certainly no shortage of winter. We took our inspiration from a colour palette many Calgary brides are requesting for their 2014 weddings – golds, ivories, peaches and pinks – and went from there. We envisioned a final product that was both romantic and whimsical with a little added sparkle for the upcoming holiday season. Kayla and Ryan, who are freatured in this photoshoot are a real Calgary couple who were married this past September, so working with them was both easy and natural. We drew our inspiration from a 1920’s theme, which we pulled into the little details – the art deco styling of the cake, the vintage serving tray and gold clock featured on the dessert table and the simple elegance and styling of the bride. This era lends itself well to a New Year’s Eve inspired photoshoot – that time was so glamorous and carefree. I think 2014 will see many brides pulling inspiration from the 1920’s era; the styles were so classic and timeless.
