The Metropolitan Building Wedding

The Metropolitan Building is one of my favorite places in the world to get married.  It’s like this perfect combination of vintage charm and Jane Austen-esque romance that just screams for a pretty party.  And when an adorable duo like this ties the knot amongst its historic charm (with the help of some of NYC’s most fabulous vendors), it’s more than a wedding… it’s an epically awesome celebration.  See it all captured by Kaitie Bryant right here.

From the Bride… It was only natural that we get married in New York City, since it’s where we met and fell in love.

I also knew that because I live in NYC, I had no ability to search yard sales, haul craft materials in a car, or go to giant discount stores to find the little details that so many brides use to make their wedding personal. So the minute I walked into the Metropolitan Building, I knew it was our venue – it was so breathtaking and didn’t need a thing added to make it a gorgeous setting for our wedding. I loved the vintage, whimsical feel of the venue and tried to incorporate that in our details, such as displaying our parents, grandparents and great grandparents wedding photos, and the luggage tags and skeleton keys used for the escort cards.

My dear NYC friend LeeAnne did our wedding flowers – she has such talent and vision that I didn’t even know what the flowers were until the day of the wedding (one less thing to plan). The flowers were so gorgeous, as one friend said; they “almost stole the show.”

While I found the planning process to be extremely exhausting, I was able to completely enjoy our wedding day. We both felt present in the moments of the day and were overwhelming blessed to have all our friends and family share in the joy God gave us in our marriage.

One moment I will never forget from our wedding was during our ceremony – we chose to sing “Come Thou Fount” and everyone’s voices filled the room in such a powerful way, I got chills. It was so beautiful.
