A New Years Party in a Box

When West Elm sent over their party in a box, our minds were abuzz with possibility. Feeling inspired by the cool silver & blush palette, we set our sights on a crisp wintry themed New Years party and with that we were off to the races! Captured by Ruth Eileen, there’s a full gallery bubbling over with celebratory inspiration. And if you’re on the hunt for the full breakdown (yep, recipes, DIY projects, the works!), head on over to SMP Living to grab all the action.

Seeing as our party in a box was equipped with essentially everything we needed to throw a party of epic proportions, this turned into a “just add food, friends & a little love” type of event. To set the scene, we made a DIY silver & white fringe backdrop, playing up the silver and blush palette. For another easy, yet super impactful backdrop, we hung foil “Happy New Year” balloons on a blank wall. Can you decide which you prefer? We certainly can’t…

Next, we set up dessert tables in all white and silver palette. The sleek monochromatic display is easy as pie to set up, complete with upside-down white lacquer boxes & trays from West Elm’s office collection. Most of the treats are mini for guests to easily grab while mingling.

We’re no strangers to using cheat-cuts to make our events truly shine, and this New Years soiree is no exception. The entire thing came together quickly with store-bought treats like meringues & macarons. We even dressed up some store-bought pastries by scraping off the original fall decorations, spreading a layer of frosting and dotting with white pearl sprinkles. With a few homemade goods sprinkles in for good measure, we were good to go. Oh, and we obviously topped it all off with a fizzy coconut cocktail.

Before our guests retired for the evening, we set up a late-night fireside s’more’s station with a glam but cozy lounge area. Metallic throws, pillows and spiked hot cocoa really set the scene.

The s’mores station is as easy as glittering up some craft-store tin buckets and filling with all the necessary ingredients. If you’re feeling fancy, you could always add nutella or peanut butter for some fun s’mores twists. All you have to do is pop a block of floral foam in a tin bucket, cover with faux snow, add in marshmallow roasting sticks, and the station is complete.

Finally, we sent guests home with their own DIY s’mores kit favors. Each kit comes with the ingredients to make several s’mores, all packed up in a glittery box! The perfect ending to a wonderfully wintry event.
