From the Bride…I moved to Baltimore from Delaware where I grew up shortly after college and was introduced to Eric at a Ravens football game tailgate. We felt an instant connection and went on our first date the week after and have been together ever since. Eric proposed in the Fall of 2012 and after being together for 6 years, we decided to have a quick engagement. I am a teacher as well, so a summer wedding was ideal so I could be on summer vacation to deal with last minute wedding preparation and also for a two week Italian honeymoon.

We both loved the movie “Meet Joe Black” and fantasized about having a wedding just like the elegant mansion affair in the movie held outside with rolling green hills and lights illuminating the night sky (or maybe it was just meJ) It turned out to be easier to find than expected because as soon as we visited the Evergreen Museum in Baltimore, we knew we had found the perfect place for our mansion wedding. The stately white columns of the mansion made it the perfect backdrop for our back lawn outdoor wedding and cocktail hour as well as the tented carriage house for our reception.

Once the location and summer date was finalized, I chose a romantic, soft garden party aesthetic for our blush, grey and white wedding. For the ceremony, I had tan wooden chairs and cream market umbrellas set up on the Evergreen lawn to provide shade for guests in the July heat and accented the chairs with white babies breath and blush ribbon. The fountain was the focal point for the ceremony and was flanked on each side by white hydrangeas. A string quartet provided pre ceremony music to set a serene tone. After the ceremony, we tented the brick patio for cocktail hour to provide shade for guests and served strawberry basil spritzers and mint juleps to help beat the heat. Inside the carriage house, I chose grey linens and tall babies breath vases and blooms in white, blush and dusty purple to continue the soft color palette. We dined on strawberry spinach and gorgonzola summer salad, porcini crusted sea bass and steak au poivre, and enjoyed an assortment of cupcakes from the dessert bar. Guests enjoyed getting silly with the photobooth and props and everyone danced late into the night while listening to Motown and top 40 hits. Our wedding was exactly what we wanted and truly was the “Meet Joe Black” wedding of our dreams.
