From Mary Marantz… As you guys have seen by now, Ashley & Chris were married on a fairytale sort of day. That’s not the sort of word I use that often anymore because for the most part it seems to reside in a world where it has lost all of its meaning. Where it’s just something people say at weddings because it seems like a wedding-y sort of thing to say. But in my eyes, Ashley & Chris breathed new life into it. Gave new meaning to a word that was all but lost. Because they lived it every second of their day. In a way that only they could: soft, comforting, unassuming. Ashley & Chris, with the help of Ashley’s incredible mom Karen, brought together their perfect, and yes pink day. They assembled a dream team including Beth from Blush Studio, Katherine at the Branford House, Beth from the White Dress & Michael from Coastal Gourmet to pull together every inch of their pink & gold vision. Not to mention hours of DIY work from Ashley & her mom on everything from the invitations (hello, hand cut water color inserts!) to the gold peacock stamp on every place card. The day was perfect, made even more so by two people who would have loved & laughed even if it hadn’t been. That in my book, is the real fairytale. A&C there are no words for how much we adore & appreciate you guys. We will be grateful for the honor of documenting your love for the rest of our lives. Love like this always.
From the Bride… Planning my wedding with my mom was a dream come true. From the beginning, I would call her and show her countless inspiration images of what I imagined my wedding day could be. I envisioned it as an elegant, glamorous and romantic affair. A once in a lifetime opportunity to live a fairytale and marry the love of your life. I had to be engaged in every detail and loved the excitement of it. From selecting the vendors, to picking the perfect marbled paper to match the invitations, the choices had to feel just right.
The historic Branford House Mansion offered the best of both worlds. My husband and I loved the idea having an outdoor ceremony by the water and having a unique and architecturally impressive venue to celebrate during the reception. The historic mansion and spring season inspired the look and feel of the day with a palette of Blush, Azalea, Glittering Gold, and Cream. Custom touches were an important way to make my wedding feel personal and express my style as a bride. A hand drawn image of the Branford House was sent to William Arthur to be engraved in gold. Each invitation envelope was lined with hand cut marbled paper and sealed with a gold peacock. Gold tea-light candelabras were used on the 16 ft long head table, along with gold chargers and mercury glass votives. My husband and I sat at the base of the dramatic marble fireplace with our wedding party and their dates.
Finding the perfect dress was the most exciting part of being a Bride-to-be. After trying on over a dozen dresses and visiting several boutiques I found the perfect tiered dress by Anne Barge. An antique pair of rhinestone earrings and necklace were my “something old”. Since blush for bridesmaids is such a classic trend, I wanted my girls to feel ethereal but also unique. I found Art Deco style bracelets with attached rings to add glamour and Blush Floral created crowns of baby’s breath.
Working with talented vendors was one of the most exciting parts of planning my wedding. Seeing and smelling a room full of beautiful peonies, roses, hydrangea and spring flowers is an amazing feeling. Nothing can compare to hundreds of flowers in bloom! To hint at our honeymoon destination and get in the spirit, the parting favor was an Eiffel Tower stamped muslin bag of chocolates. We left for Paris through an arch of sparklers, a dream come true!
