I should mention that today is no ordinary afternoon here on SMP. Not even close. In fact, we’ve been waiting on pins and needles to introduce you to our new blogger-bride contributor, miss Devon Dyer! You might know her as the fashionista behind Devon Rachel, but when a little birdy told us she was rocking some new ring finger bling, we knew a fabulous collaboration was right around the corner. So here’s how it’s going go — over the next seven months, Devon will be sharing the ins and outs of wedding planning right here on SMP; fashion, fitness, design, you name it. All leading up to her Big Day! So let’s sit back and get to know the darling Devon a bit better, shall we?
Hello fellow brides-to-be! I’m Devon and I write the blog Devon Rachel, which follows my journey as fashion and interior design blogger from Texas living in Los Angeles. I moved here a little over a year ago to work for celebrity stylist, Taylor Jacobson, and it was the biggest step I’ve taken in my career and life thus far. I want to follow my dreams—life is short! After learning from Taylor, I branched out on my own and currently blog and style full time. My blog is a place I want others to be inspired, and I want to create the same feeling in my wedding. No person inspires me more than my fiancé, Chandler.
The story of how Chandler and I met is a fun one to tell. We met in the library of Texas Tech University (Wreck ‘Em! Guns Up!). I was frantically studying for one my hardest classes in college. A mutual friend suggested I study with Chandler who was in the same class and noted, “he was pretty cute” so it wouldn’t hurt. I met Chandler, bombed the test and the rest is history.
I should mention one important part of our story. Chandler and I are dating long distance, and have been for over a year. He lives in Texas with my family and friends. Going from seeing someone you love every day to once a month is not an easy task, but Chandler was the one who pushed me to follow my dreams to California. He promised me we would make it work and that he would be there for me 100% of the way. Talk about a better half! His continuous support and love (especially on the nights I’d call crying when I first moved to LA) means the world to me.
Chandler proposed on top of Runyon Canyon in Los Angeles, a place we love to hike that overlooks the city. He told me we we’re taking a picture, and dropped down on one knee as I posed. When the person taking our picture realized what Chandler was doing, he started recording on his phone. So I have actual footage to share with you! I was totally shocked and it was the most magical moment of my life.

I’m so excited to plan this wedding and take you along on the journey with me. From flowers and fitness to bridesmaids and beauty, I’ll be covering my planning process here on Style Me Pretty. There will be stress, but we will get through this! Because in the end, I will walk down a flower filled aisle to marry the man of my dreams and it will all be worth it. So will you, pretty bride! Let’s do this.
