As far as I’m concerned, there’s nothing more classic than a country club affair. It’s like the “little black dress” of venues that just never goes out of style. But what makes this wedding shine a wee bit brighter is the talent stacked behind it. I’m talking the motherload of all vendor mashups — Rountree Flowers, Brilliant Event Planning, Ceci New York and The Left Handed Calligrapher, just to name a few. Christian Oth Studio captured the day to perfection, and we’ve got all the goods waiting right here.
Our gorgeous and unbelievably kind bride, Liz, wanted a perfectly sophisticated and contemporary wedding, but above all she wanted her family and friends to have the best night they could possibly imagine. While we were planning the happy couple’s special day, we worked closely with Liz was to create a fun and memorable day for those who are most important to her and Chris.
The couple could not have asked for a more idyllic day. The sun was beaming and there was a light summer breeze as guests arrived at their late afternoon ceremony. Liz, who looked ethereal in her lace-applique adorned gown, walked down an aisle lined with fresh hydrangeas and following their traditional ceremony guests headed to Rumson Country Club for cocktails and the couple’s lively reception. Nods to the couple’s current home, New York City, could be found all throughout the evening. During the chic cocktail hour, family and friends picked up escort cards that included tables named after the couple’s favorite NYC spots, snacked on delicious hors d’oeuvres and sipped cocktails complete with New York Giants and Yankees drink stirrers and coordinating blue and white striped paper straws. Their signature cocktail was the Rumson Club’s very own Southside, which is a drink that they traditionally serve in big, ivory mugs. Liz and Chris chose to serve it this way at the wedding, too, as it’s one of their favorite parts of golfing at the club.
After cocktail hour, guests headed to the fabulous tented reception and were greeted by a map that was custom made to look like a subway map with paths to the couple’s favorite spots that served as the table names. Guests took their spots at tables decorated with an array of crystal vases filled with lush flowers in pastel hues and welcomed the newly married, and not to mention completely adorable, couple while the song “Can’t Hold Us” by Macklemore played. In between dancing and eating, a slew of thoughtful speeches were made by the bride and groom’s family and friends, most notably Liz’s father who gave an unforgettable speech that included him singing a Frank Sinatra song to his beautiful daughter. Liz, being the thoughtful bride she is, wanted everyone to have an enjoyable comfortable and fun night, as exemplified by the cigar bar that guests could get hand-rolled cigars from, the colorful pashmina scarves that were provided to guests so they could stay warm as the sun set and the unique personalized sunglasses family and friends could wear while they danced the night away. Before Liz and Chris’s memorable night came to an end, guests made sure to grab their favors, bags of mini classic NYC black and white cookies baked by a Brooklyn bakery, and a sparkler for the sparkler send off. The bride and groom departed their reception as family and friends showered them with light, love and happiness.
