Today, Virginia is taking over our feed. We started the morning off with this pretty number and now we’re diving into a garden affair full of so many beautiful moments; kissing under blossoming cherry trees, fur babies mixed into the festivities and all with a layer of crazy gorgeous florals by Petal’s Edge. You honestly won’t be able to keep your eyes off them or the snapshots captured by Jodi Miller Photography. Have a look here.
From the Bride…. April was the perfect time for our wedding because of the cooler Virginia weather and the gorgeous spring blooms. Our ceremony was held at the historic St. Mary’s Catholic Church and the reception was just a short drive down the road to River Farm, the ideal backdrop for our garden reception. River Farm is especially stunning in the Spring with its blooming gardens and beautiful views of the Potomac River.
Our wedding palette included soft pinks, champagne, and grey for the Spring look I imagined. The bridesmaids wore beautiful Jenny Yoo dresses and Greg and his groomsmen wore grey suits from Brooks Brothers with a matching grey tie with a tie clip for a classic look.
We wanted flowers that would look like they were picked from the River Farm garden and our florist helped us create a garden-textured look filled with lots of hydrangeas, roses, peonies, ranunculus, and succulents. To create a vintage look for the tables we used lace overlays for the tables and milk glass and mercury glass vessels.
Other personal details included the vintage stamps used for our wedding invitations, my antique inspired engagement ring, my vintage wedding band created from a cocktail ring from Greg’s grandmother, and the beautiful antique pearl bracelet that was my something borrowed from my mother-in-law. My absolute favorite accessory were my wedding shoes which were the same ones my mom wore 31 years ago on her wedding day.
Lastly, we chose a dog friendly hotel for our getting ready photos so we could include our pugs, Munchie and Rocco, in pictures. I found adorable collars from an etsy store for an adorable formal look for them. My sister, the maid-of-honor also had a bow tie for her pug, Louie.
