California Coral Wedding from Meg Smith Photography

I’m pretty positive that I could be best friends with this couple: a duo that had their first date and four years later, their engagement on the Colbert Report (see that proposal here!) and a Bride with a deep love for coral inspired by her favorite Essie nail polish color. You just know this wedding was bound to be awesome and it so delivers. The florals by Kathleen Deery in the Bride’s favorite hue, the feel of a casual get-together with loved ones but kicked up a billion notches on the pretty scale and the images by Meg Smith that we can never quite get enough of; they all make for a really gorgeous gallery. See it right here.

Megan and George met while training for a marathon together in Brooklyn. George invited Megan to a taping of The Colbert Report for their first date and a couple years later took her back to that same show to propose, on the air!

For their wedding Megan and George had so many personal touches, from the custom bocce ball set to the cocktail napkins on the bar printed with George’s funny cartoons – no detail was left unpersonalized! Their Aunt Kimberly is a wonderful graphic designer and came up with the logo for their wedding – twin bridges (the Brooklyn and the Golden Gate) intertwined to symbolize this East Coast meets West Coast couple. Megan hails from the Bay Area and George from Brooklyn.

One of the couple’s favorite traditions at home is game night and so they had Corn Hole and Bocce Ball field games on the lawn as well as a pack of personalized playing cards in their welcome bags. To incorporate the marathoners love of running they held a 5k Fun Run on the morning of their wedding and sent out Marathon Bibs as Save the Dates.

The Bride’s favorite color, which we often found her wearing in our planning meetings, was Coral. Inspired by an Essie brand of nail polish (California Coral) we carried that color through the theme of the wedding so that everything felt festive and cohesive.
