Whimsical Colorado Wedding from Brumley and Wells

I’ve come to the conclusion that big, huge balloons make for really amazing celebrations and so do dogs in bow ties. But put those two together and this wedding is unstoppable. Photographed by Brumley and Wells with florals by Lady Bird Poppy, it’s a pretty party in a tent set amongst the beauty of Colorado and you can see it all unfold here in the full gallery (big balloons and dressed up pups included).

From the Bride… Mike and I are both from Iowa and both of our families still live in Iowa, so originally we thought we would need to start getting really creative to have the perfect outdoor spring wedding. For those of you who haven’t visited Iowa in the summer, it is hot and rainy and the outdoor venues are pretty scarce. Mike and I imagined a medium sized wedding, where we could make it personal and make sure we had time to spend time with everyone. We decided to have it in our new home state of Colorado because you just can’t beat the gorgeous views and great weather. We both fell in love with the manor house, it had a little bit of everything. The manor house is classic and modern all at the same time. It is set right in the foothills and just through the break in the hills you can see downtown Denver. We could have our dream ceremony outside, eat dinner in their amazing tent and then continue the party inside of the mansion. We really wanted our guests to feel comfortable, and the Manor House really offered everything.

The day of the wedding was perfect, the summer had been hot but that Sunday the clouds made it cool. All of our family and bridal party looked so amazing. We chose navy and blush for the bridal party because it was very spring like and felt timeless. The bridesmaids all chose their own look which suited them best and shoes that they were comfortable in. The groomsmen looked so charming in their suspenders and bow ties. Probably my favorite groomsmen was our dog- Bay who Mike and I have been in love with since the day we rescued him in California. Other than that we really didn’t want a specific color palette. The florist, Lady Bird Poppy of Denver, did an amazing job of pulling all of my color combinations together and really creating gorgeous table settings. Another one of my favorite details were the balloons that the Bridesmaids carried.

All of our vendors really pulled the day together. Since we are the only ones in our family that live in Colorado, we put a lot of trust in our vendors to help us create the perfect day. Our close friends at My Mom’s Pie, married us and also helped bake all of the mini thank you pies. Kini, the owner, is so genuine and her ceremony was so thoughtful. We had a family tree in the wedding, which both of our parents watered- it is now planted in our back yard and a reminder of our growing family. I bake wedding cakes so I couldn’t let someone else make our wedding cake but I wanted to keep it really simple- luckily a friend of mine is great with clay and made our adorable fish cake toppers.

The hardest decisions we had to make during the planning process were music, and photography. I love big band music but wanted to make sure everyone had a good time so we had a 3 piece swing band play during the first half of the reception and then a DJ play the 2nd half. I am extremely picky when it comes to photography, the first time I saw Brumley and Wells Photography I was in Love. I knew that there was no one else who could capture our day. They have a lightness and sincerity to their photography and they also happen to be some of the most creative and kind individuals we have ever met. They truly made the day seamless.

Overall we are so thankful for our family and friends who made the day so meaningful and memorable, the vendors who poured their hearts into making our day perfect, and to the endless DIY girls nights that completed each detail. It was all so worth it!
