Perth Wedding at The Woodbridge House from Christine Lim Photography
I consider any day spent wrapped up in some sweet DIY goodness to be a very good day, especially when that sweet DIY goodness is a rustic meets crazy cool vintage love-fest with more than its fair share of pretty. I'm talking beautiful blooms from Oscar & Evie, the fab stylings of The Butcher, The Baker, The Stylist & Creator and one lovely moment after another captured by Christine Lim Photography. See them all right here in the full gallery.
From the Bride... Tristan and I had known each other and were friends since about 2004. It took a New Year's Eve kiss in 2006 for it to become something more! Our wedding day was relaxed, happy, vintage and personal. We wanted a really relaxed vibe with a bit of a picnic style setting, so we looked for an outdoor venue with plenty of trees and grass. Woodbridge House and Riverside at Woodbridge Café fit the bill! We had the ceremony alongside Woodbridge House, a beautiful heritage listed building. Then moved over to Riverside at Woodbridge Café for the reception, where we overlooked the river. Suzie, the owner, was fabulous! The food was delicious and we were able to buy and stock her fridges with our own alcohol.
I made the save the date cards and the invitations with personalized stamps I got made (with some help from a friend to glue and stamp!), fabric letters, bunting, fabric covered crochet hoops, the sign my nephew carried, favour bags for guests, drink coasters, swing tag labels for the guest favours, programs, picnic blankets, and probably more! My mum also made some picnic rugs, finishing up the night before and the morning of! With help from family and friends, I also spent months collecting and filling our home with bits and pieces we used on the day - glass jars, suitcases, doilies, wooden chairs, a typewriter, etc! Jess, our stylist, set up some doors at the ceremony that we stood in front of to say our vows. On the glass pane of one of the doors, she wrote my favourite lyrics of the song that I walked down the aisle to. I love that you can see the door and the lyrics in the photos of us saying our vows and having our first kiss!
My nephews were our page boys, and were very handsome and well behaved! My oldest nephew held the rings, and took his job very seriously! I love the photo of my youngest nephew carrying his “Uncle Tris, here comes your bride!” sign. We told him to carry it down to Uncle Tris at the end, and he was off! It was adorable, and the smiles you see as he walks past were so fitting!
Christine was AMAZING! She was one of the first vendors I chose, and couldn’t have been more perfect for our day. She had a more relaxed approach to photos, nothing too posed, with a soft and vintage feel to them – exactly what we were after! We were really happy with the end result of the photos, she captured so much happiness and we love looking back over them and remembering bits and pieces of the day. (And she handled our rowdy bridal party with ease!) My brother-in-law decided to tell a spur of the moment joke during speeches, and had everyone in stitches. There is a priceless photo of my mum, my sister, Tristan and I just laughing at him! Tristan thought he and his groomsmen were going to catch taxis to the ceremony. He is a Ford fan and LOVES old cars, so I decided to surprise him and organize some old fords to pick them up. He only found out when they arrived at the hotel. The photos are great, he looks stoked!
The cake and dessert buffets were just divine! They were lovingly home-made by family and friends and styled perfectly by Jess, the photos are among my favourites taken. My sister made the wedding cake and cupcakes on the cake buffet. She, along with my sister-in-law and friends from my home town made the goodies that filled the glass jars on the dessert buffet.
The bridesmaids, page boys and flower girl walked down to ‘Heartbeats’ by Jose Gonsales. My mum and I walked down to ‘Angels’ by the XX and met my Dad at the end. The song has beautiful lyrics, I still get goosebumps listening to it! I knew the song was meant to be when it came on the radio as I tried my dress on at my first fitting!
Five things that made our wedding special: 1. The ceremony – I was dreading it the most, but it ended up being my favourite part of the day. I tuned everyone out and saw only Tristan, and was so relieved to get to him at the end of the aisle. Cliché but very special! 2. The music – I loved every song, and the lyrics meant something to us. Moods can be captured with music, and I love re-living them when I hear them! 3. The bridal party – We had a huge bridal party, with 5 bridesmaids and 1 bridesmate, 7 groomsmen, 2 page boys and 1 flower girl. They are all so special to us, and looked amazing on the day. We managed to get a hilarious photo booth pic of us all! 4. The setting – Jess from The Butcher, The Baker, The Stylist and Creator is beyond words! We were so happy with the magic she worked, and loved that she filled every nook and cranny with some sort of vintage goodness! It was exactly what I had imagined, and our guests commented that it was very suiting! 5. The smiles and compliments – Seeing the smiles on the faces of all our guests and having them compliment our day really made all the planning and hard work worthwhile!
