This lovely lady is a SMP Bride through and through. With her careful attention to detail and love of pink, pink and more pink – her wedding had us at hello. It only takes one look at her oh-so-pretty day by Chelsey Schrader Photography to see why we feel in love with every single image sitting in this gallery – and you can do the same, right here.
As we had guests traveling from far and wide–many from California (where the groom and I went to college) and Kansas (where the groom is originally from)–we wanted to make their trip to our wedding completely effortless. Each decision we made for our big day was fueled by trying to give our guests the best possible experience. In that vein, we hired vintage trolley cars to transport our guests from Downtown Austin to Kyle, we had water and lemonade waiting for guests pre-ceremony, stocked the bathrooms with sunscreen and bug spray, and had specialty cocktails and wine awaiting the guests on their stroll to cocktail hour.
But beyond comfort, I also took on several DIY projects to give the day a personal touch. Each of our tables were named after a significant place or event in our relationship, and listed the story of the name on the table card; for example, some guests sat at a table named “Snuggie” (the first present my hubby ever gave me) or “Kebabalicious” (the food trailer we were eating at when we changed our Facebook status to “in a relationship”.) As we’re big fans of hosting game nights for our friends, we also incorporated that with custom cornhole boards and croquet during the cocktail hour. Guests also signed in on Jenga blocks instead of a traditional guestbook. Other small touches abounded, like personalized seed packet escort cards strung up on a lattice work clothes rack, individually made toss bags filled with lavender, and homemade chocolate chip cookies with milk in place of a groom’s cake.
All in all, it was a wonderful day, and one I will never forget, full of everyone we loved, countless smiles, and some (fairly awful) dance moves. When the limo pulled away at the end of the night, we got a text from our day of coordinator that it had JUST started raining at the venue, for the first time that day. I think, at the end, the rain just couldn’t stand up to all that love and happiness.
