Behind the Invitation: Aviation + Garden Party Suite from One Plus One Design
I can’t help but be in a cheerful mood after seeing the photos for our latest installment of Behind the Invitation! Tyler and Jessie from One Plus One Design are here today to tell us the story behind this sweet design. From the lovebirds, Jeff and Jen flying away in their getaway plane, to the map envelope liners and the bright color combo, the whole thing is perfectly adorable while staying true to the couple’s personalities. The Vision: High school sweethearts Jen and Jeff were married in springtime in beautiful Assiniboine Park, Manitoba. The theme was garden party, and the couple emphasized that while bright and fun were the keys to their decorations, they wanted to combine these characteristics with a major theme in their lives — aviation. Jeff, who’s training to be a pilot in the Canadian military, has a self-proclaimed obsession with maps and indicated he’d like to see this brought into the design. Jen, who’s bright, cheerful personality can’t be missed, stated simply that she wanted to make sure that the design refrained from becoming too masculine, and that it reflected the flowers and colours of her day. We settled on a happy juxtaposition — bright floods of colour and flowery details accented with a custom illustration of the couple flying away to their new life.
Standout Features: First and foremost, the letterpress printing. One of the key advantages to letterpress is that the inks are pure and bright, perfect for this suite. To accent the sunny yellow envelopes we included envelope liners of world maps, a subtle hint at the Royal Canadian Airforce roundel, and a postage-themed stamp indicating their future travels together, both business and pleasure.
Custom Services: We classify this suite as our 4-piece letterpress option, which includes the invitations and RSVPs, colour co-ordinated envelopes and custom labels. Rounding out the custom designed materials are the aforementioned envelope liners and custom stamp, as well as table numbers and favour packaging.
