From the Bride… Our wedding was perfect. After I found my dress, a gorgeous Modern Trousseau lace gown, we knew we’d be going for a vintage classic look with a modern twist. Mustard yellow is my favorite color so we punctuated the elegant cremes, whites, and greys of the reception room with oncidium lilies, accent pillows, and my Badgley Mischka mustard pumps. We also tried to incorporate family heirlooms into our day. I wore a sixpence piece in my shoe for good luck – the same coin my mother had in her shoe on her wedding day – and pearl studs that were my great grandmother’s. I also wore a garter that was made by my husband’s grandmother that has been worn by every child/grandchild in their family. At the entrance to the reception, we included photographs of other family members’ on their wedding day. The reception was a blast and a testament to my mother’s keen eye for design. We danced the night away to the phenomenal band Serenade of Souls and left in a vintage Bentley driven by Duane Magnuson.
