From the Bride...Shawn and I grew up in two very different worlds.  I was the typical city girl and he was a true country boy. As fate would have it, our two worlds met when Shawns friend recommended he get his haircut by me in July 2006. I didn't know it then, but would soon find out that he is a very special man. Over the next four years we had a casual client/customer relationship and we slowly became friends.  I have a son from a previous relationship and was always very skeptical about introducing men to my son, but with Shawn it just seemed right.  Two short years later we were engaged.

Our wedding vision was intimate and rustic. We were surrounded by sixty-five of our closest family and friends. The Falcon Trails Resort has become very special to Shawn and me as we have celebrated our birthdays there for the past two years. We wanted our wedding to be simple but with a variety of different textures. With the gorgeous location, we didn't want anything that would take away from the scenery so we did our best to compliment it! From the flowers, to the glass mason jars, to the grey burlap squares placed on the tables, we wanted our day to reflect us. One way that I personalized my wedding was with my bouquet.  My brother was killed on a grey hound bus almost 5 years ago and I wanted him to somehow be with me on my wedding day. My mom and I were looking through his old chest of keepsakes and we found this grey camp bandanna (he was known for wearing bandannas).  I figured it was fate, because my colors were grey, white and green, we wrapped it around the stems of my bouquet and it fit perfectly!

We had a number of people traveling from a distance to celebrate our day with us, so we decided to make it a weekend retreat for our guests.  The lake setting couldn't have been more relaxing and peaceful. We had a big BBQ on Friday evening and all the men were invited to join Shawn for breakfast on Saturday morning before the celebration began! We had such a great time with all the people in our lives that we truly love and love us in return.  We couldn't have imagined anything more and I am so happy to officially start my forever with my best friend and the man of my dreams.
