I’ve been in a New York state of mind lately, so this elopement from Genevieve Nisly Photography is calling, nay yelling, my name. The photographs are beautifully simple: telling the story of the lovebirds and their city on the most romantic day of their lives. Can you hear me swooning?
From the beautiful bride… Eloping is AWESOME! It is still just as meaningful without the stress. We wanted the wedding to be about us and getting married. We wanted to do something that felt different than what we normally see.(Since we are wedding photographers ourselves.) The day did not feel over-planned, rather lighthearted and fun!
There were many favorite parts of the day. I spent the morning by myself. Some people may find this depressing, but it was a great opportunity to reflect. I loved riding the train by myself. (first time!) Jarred and I got dressed together. It was refreshing to ignore regular traditions. I was surprised with a broach bouquet from HeatherLily Floral. We loved having James and Genevieve at our wedding. It meant a lot to us to have them there and going along with our last minute plans. They were our photographers, wedding party, and witnesses! I cried when Alice (officiant) read the letter Jarred wrote to me. This was definitely unexpected. Having a private ceremony allowed real emotions to show. The rest of the day was loosely planned. We roamed New York City, fed each other cupcakes, and listened to street music on the train.
I think other couples should plan a wedding that makes them happy. Choose wedding pros that make you feel comfortable. Photographs are so important. They really are one of the few physical items left over from the wedding.
